I have applied for UT Health Science Scholars but I’m getting anxious about my decision. I have a full ride to UTD for board and tuition along with access to a research program that I have to accept/decline soon. Austin and UT at Austin definitely feels like home when I’ve visited, and I can’t bear the thought of going to school elsewhere, but for a full ride and access to top programs is definitely something to consider. If I got into UT Austin Honors, however, I would go there without a doubt. I hope this makes sense. If y’all wouldn’t mind, I would love for someone to chance me.

I can’t wait to go to college and change the world, and I am so, so ecstatic for what the future holds. Just a little nervous, lol! I thank anyone for responding or even taking the time to read all of this.
Thank you, and have a blessed day.
Honors at UT’s CNS is a much more competitive application than most think. For example, Dean’s Scholar has an average 1540/1600 SAT (math + verbal) and 12% acceptance rate (and after considering how many CNS students don’t bother to apply or don’t know it exists until after they’re admitted, it’s even harder than the numbers suggest).
Nonetheless, you seem to have a compelling story (and hopefully great essays), so that plus your class rank will definitely help. I’m leaning towards a rejection solely based on stats, but there’s only one way to find out - wait another 2 weeks
I don’t know about your chances but you do have a great resume. Your scores are a bit low but the ECs are definitely impressive. I wanted to put a plug in for UTD. My DD is there now on a full ride, not for premed but CS, and its a good school. They do have a great acceptance rate to medical schools. It does sound like they are courting you and that means you will be given every opportunity to succeed, they will promote you. My DD was in a similar situation with being accepted to UT but being wanted by UTD evidenced by money, honors and opportunities. She choose UTD and it is allowing her to do things that would not have been available to her at UT - studying in Florence this summer. For yourself, the money you save could go a long way for medical school costs. You’ve got 2 great choices - good luck in your decision.
Thank you, Aristos. I completely will understand if I’m rejected, just happy to be considered. I know that CNS is highly competitive and my scores leave a lot to be desired. If I get in, it will be by the grace of God. GTAustin, it is quite a conundrum. I know in my heart that UTD will be giving me all the opportunities and chances to succeed to help me get to Med School, but I don’t know if I can give up UT Austin just yet. We will see! I appreciate your response
