So I signed up for a housing contract at UT Austin on April 11, 2018 thinking I’d be fine and clueless because I don’t know how any of this works. I’m a first generation student and I’ve been doing most of these college things on my own. So I was planning on living in Jester West with a friend from school. She of course already received her contract and has a space already in jester west. So I called and they are on April 9th for handing out contracts and told me they are waiting on more cancelations because they cannot give out more contracts at this time. Should I be scared? I feel like jester is such a big residence hall and it’s the cheapest option that there should still be space left. I really don’t know what to do at this point. The lady I spoke to told me to just wait a while and see if any of the summer session people leave but my roommate is getting a little worried and so am I. July 15 is when the first summer session ends and also my orientation isn’t until July 23-25.
