I will graduate early from high school this December, and plan on applying for spring semester 2013 at the University of Tennessee this October. I currently live in Knoxville, TN, and I live about 20 minutes away from the campus. My current high school GPA is a 3.45. My high school transcript is alittle more on the rigorous side; I have taken honors courses and will be taking dual enrollment English and AP Calculus for my senior year in high school. My ACT score unfortunately is only a 23, but I will attempt the ACT one last time this September and hope to increase a few subject areas (University of Tennessee does the super-scoring method). My question is this: Is there a good chance that I will get accepted based on my GPA, ACT, and rigorous courses in high school.

You’re pretty much in the same situation as myself. I have a 4.2 gpa though and I have rigorous classes. I have a 24 on my ACT but I did re-take it today. My super score is a 25 though. As long as you have a very good personal statement, and some decent letters of recommendations, I’m sure you’ll be accepted. I volunteer a lot in 4-H, I have 1 college class + 4 high school classes and I work part-time for a shrink. All of these things will also help improve your chances. Don’t forget to tell them that you’ll participate in campus activities! They love that!
