UT, LSU, or TAMU for engineering?

Hello all,

Im kind of stuck here. I am not sure which University would offer me the best lifestyle, affordability, safety, fun, and most importantly education. I realize UT and TAMU rank better then LSU in the Engineering field, But I like to look at the college as a whole you know? Anyways, I live in Houston, TX. So UT and TAMU would be In state. The problem is, I would have to go to a CC and transfer in to UT or TAMU considering I missed the App. Deadline for the fall Semester. Now this wouldn't be as much of a problem if only CCs felt more like college then they do. I just feel like my first year would kind of be a drag you know? But this way is the most affordable. The other option is to just go straight to LSU for my years in engineering, though the most expensive by far, also I am still not sold on the area. I loved College station and Bryan when I went, though I am kind of worried about the small college town setting and engineering internships. UT, which has always been my top choice is more Liberal, and more my city life. Though finding a place to live off campus would be kind of rough, and I loved how TAMU had all of your shops, foods, malls, etc all pretty much in biking distance.
Anyways, if anyone has any input that would be great, more then just do what you want to do. Because I wouldn't be asking if I knew what I wanted to do.

How sure are you that your transfer applications will work after CC?
