Ut Mccombs internal transfer spring 2015

Hi, I am looking for internal transfer from liberal arts to Mccombs (i should have a gpa of 3.75 by the end of spring semester) I have cal 1, 2 and macro, micro, at least 29 in residence credit hours and i have less then 90 total credit hours. I am worried because last year the acceptance rate was 58% and avg gpa was 3.8. can someone chance me?
thank you :slight_smile:

I’m in the same boat as you, with about the same GPA! I’m assuming a lot of people applied that did not meet the minimum GPA so that could be why acceptance was so low… I also hear that as long as you have a 3.7 you should be a shoe in. We’ll see though!

@Luck123‌
Where did you get the information for 58% acceptance rate into MCcombs?
Do you have the statistcs for engineering too?

Can I assume that internal transfering gives me a better chance than external transferring from TexasA&M?

isnt’ that 16% not 58%?
@Luck123

I wouldn’t call a 3.75 gpa a shoe-in, but you are competitive. They basically put all the kids who “qualify” to apply in a list, and then go down it from the highest gpa to 3.6. Where they cut it off each year I am not really sure, last year they accepted 261 students. As you said the avg gpa was 3.8.

@texansfan1‌
I found this page: http://my.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/Internal-Transfer
and I see that its 58% but the website Luck posted contradicts it:
http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/Admissions/Transfer-Students
there’s 563 resident who applied with 16% admitted while the one you posted says 58% admitted for 450 internal transfers(I’m assuming it includes residents and nonresidents)

Do either of you know if PACE students were included in the transfer student pool? I want to know if PACE students have that high of a chance as well

The two links punctiliouseye posted are looking at two different admissions streams.
The first one is for students currently at UT Austin and are “Internal Transfers.”
The second is for students not currently at UT Austin, and are referred to as “External Transfers.”
Hope that explains the difference in the statistics. The original poster was at UT, so the “Internal Transfer” link would apply.

Don’t know the answer to the PACE question.

@Luck123‌ I don’t know your chances but you have reason to be confident with 3.75 gpa. Good luck!

I have a few questions if anyone is able to answer.
First off, does it matter how close you are to 90 hours, as long as you don’t go over it?
Next, does it matter if you completed some/all of the indicator courses at CC?
Lastly, does a dropped course affect your chances?

Appreciate it!
