UT(McCombs) vs. SMU

I have been accepted as a business major to UT Austin and to Southern Methodist University. I plan on majoring in business, but my end goal is medical school. I want to major in business because a) I love studying finance/business/etc b) I want to own a private medical practice c) I want to be able to use my major as a back up if med school doesn’t work out. Financially, SMU and UT will be about the same for me. What are some pro/cons of each? Which would be better for both studying business and my future med school app?

Only a suggestion for you: review the core requirements for each school - both overall UG and for your major. Since you’ll be adding a significant number of pre-med req classes you may want to factor in the basic requirements of graduation. Sorry I can’t speak to the specifics of UT and SMU, but I know some schools have stringent core reqs and others don’t and some are in the middle. Something to consider, especially if graduating in 4 years is important to you.

One other consideration would be whether you plan to live in Dallas afterward. That might tilt things more toward SMU, but the UT network is plenty strong here too.
