so i just was put on the wait list and offered the PACE program at UT which is co-enrollment at the community college, as well, and i’m trying to decide whether to do that or go to Baylor (with a very generous scholarship offer vs. no scholarship at UT). if you know anything about PACE, is it worth it?
same thing happened to me except I got capped. Baylor is a really great school and I would pick Baylor if I was in your shoes. Good luck!
How much does each cost, if you do (tuition, fees, room&board) - (scholarships, grants)?
(that operation will be fast for UT :D)
UT approximately $26,324 vs. Baylor $17,680 (both per year)
Go to Baylor. It sounds like they are giving you a great deal.
What major?
yeah i qualified for a pretty nice scholarship at BU as well as one from National Honor Society on the side. the major would be biochem
Baylor sounds like the best deal. The only reason you should go with UT is if you’re not religious at all and the religious requirements/behavior requirements (which are meant for students who want to grow in their faith and are related to Baptist beliefs) would be a problem. If you’re a conservative Christian or a believer, definitely take Baylor.
If you are quite determined to major in Biochem then PACE should probably not be your first choice. If you can see yourself in an alternate major then PACE would be something to consider. The issue is that Natural Science is a VERY popular, and thus difficult, major to get into. This is true for both regular admits and PACE students.
If attending UT Austin is more important than Biochem then is PACE is a good opportunity for you. UT Austin only accepts about 200 PACE students and thus it is a very small group of students that are given this chance. PACE students from this years class (2014 admits) will receive their decisions regarding their first choice majors in July (2015). After decisions are released there will be a better opportunity to access how this PACE group does getting into their majors. At this moment there are no stats on how this works out.
I know lots of Hindus attending Baylor who are happy to take the money - inconvenience is a small price to pay for the the big money.
I’d go to Baylor…
