Ut pact

Hello,
I'm extremely interested in in the UT PACT program, but I can't seem to find any information on it. I don't really know anyone who has been accepted, and I wanted to know if there was anyone out there who knew about things I could do to make myself stand out/get accepted (and if you yourself got accepted into the program, that would be great!)
Thank you so much!

Do you mean for next year? The deadline for 2013 has already passed. The info is on the UTD web site - [UT-PACT BA/MD Program - Health Professions Advising Center (HPAC) - The University of Texas at Dallas](http://www.utdallas.edu/pre-health/ut-pact) It is a VERY competitive program. Director told me they expected 500 applicants this year. If you plan to apply next year, try to do some kind of shadowing/volunteering in the medical field. The app asks about that. You must be admitted to UTD before you can get into the application.

I’m interviewing for the PACT program this weekend. I empathize with your situation in that I had no idea what the qualifications were for this program. To give you a rough idea of who gets an interview, my stats are:

ACT: 35 (36 science, 35 math, 35 English, 32 reading)
SAT: 2290 (800 CR, 740 math, 750 writing)

GPA: 4.0, 5.8/6
Rank: 2/510

Relevant EC’s: Volunteer/intern at MD Anderson and VA Hospital (80 hours each)
Research (publication pending)
Leadership/clubs, etc.

I think one of the major things that influenced my getting an interview was legacy at UTSW (my brother is a recent graduate).

After you’re called in for the interview I believe it’s mostly based on your performance at said interviews (one at UTD and one at UTSW)

How was your interview? My D had the interview this weekend too…
did you apply to any other programs?

@Fantastic17
Congratulations for your D. Can you please share her stats with us? She seems to have been accepted at all top combined programs. Wow.

Thank you so much for all of the helpful information alsomasun!
Do you guys think around a 2140 is okay on the SAT for this program?
And how did all the interviews go?
Any other information/stats anyone can offer?
And one more question–in terms of GPA, does it look better when your rank is high in a large class or in a small class? (Like, a rank 5/500 or 5/1000)?

There were four interviews, two with UTD faculty and 2 with UTSW, not sure how they decided, but I received an offer of admission!
As for SAT, it’s good to go by the average SAT posted on the website for an accurate benchmark. It will probably be updated with the class of 2020’s scores sometime next year. However, I do believe you would need around a 2250 to be competitive. What I observed, and this is pure speculation, was class rank was a major factor in getting the interview. Many people were ranked 1 or 2 in their class. Generally speaking,
unless the school is a private or very well known school, a lower class size to rank ratio (5/1000) comes across as more competitive than a higher one (5/500). Also, it’s good to have some research under your belt, as well as clinical experience. This could be shadowing or volunteerism. A lot of my peers seemed to have this in common in their applications. Since the program is so new their selection criteria will most likely be altered as the program becomes more well known and competitive.

Sorry for any typos, I did this on my phone. Good luck to you!! I hope I helped you better grasp the application process to this program.

Please post your stats

I’ll do the whole run-down to help future applicants.

alsomasun, Thanks a lot for posting your stats this sure helps a lot. I am a junior looking at the pact program. Can u please explain the following line from your stats

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Legacy at UTSW?

Thanks

Sorry for the ambiguity, I have a sibling that has recently graduated from the school.

UTSW legacy does not help. It is a medical school.

Hey, it’s me, emile101 again. I had to make another account because of some issues I had with the other. But I wanted to thank all of you for the help!

Texaspg, I thought as much, which is why I had a “?” next to it in my initial post. The reason why I found it relevant is because many direct medical programs are very risky when it comes to accepting students straight out of high school. Being cognizant of this fact, I realized it could have helped the admissions board understand that I had some grasp on the rigors of pursuing a career in medicine.

can someone please share their ut pact and/or ut fame stats for us? itd be GREATLY appreciated :)

Hi! I am also a junior that is very interested in the UT Pact program but I am very worried about the GPA component! I have had two B’s so far in my high school career (and even though they are 89’s they will count as a 3.0). How badly would this hurt my chances of being accepted into the program?

Do you have to send your standardized test scores to a separate PACT committee or will they just see your scores from the ones you sent to UTD?
