UT Plan II / UT LAH Chances

Hello! Just got back from a Plan II visit earlier today and a bit worried about my chances getting in. I’ll keep this short and simple, so based on #s alone, how do you think I fare?

Academics:
Rank: 2/650ish
GPA: 4.00/4.00
ACT: 35
SAT (new): 1520
PSAT: 1510
National Merit Semifinalist (as of now)
Received 5’s on 7 AP tests (AP Human Geo, AP Stats, WHAP, APUSH, APES, AP AB Calc, AP English Comp.)

Extracurricular Activities:
Debate - Vice President, Captain
Placed top 10 nationally in my event
State finalist

Model UN - President, Head Captain
Helped found organization as a Freshman
Received awards at 3 national tournaments
Organized/held conferences hosted by our school

Orchestra
Regional competitor
In school’s highest orchestra – played for 7 years

NHS - Tutoring Committee Chair
Served as a committee chair for two years

Other Extracurriculars:
UIL Academics - top 10 in Current Events at state
Academic World Quest - 2nd in the district 2 years running

Employment:
Math tutor (3 years)

Volunteering:
Over 60 hours thru NHS
Over 100 hours volunteering as a math tutor where I am now employed

Are you in state? If so, I would be shocked if you didn’t get in to Plan 2.

Yep. More than anything I’m worried about my essays – I just wanted to make sure I have a competitive application otherwise, thanks for responding.

Your essays definitely need to be good since they’re weighted pretty heavily in plan 2 applications, but you’re well above average in every other aspect. Just take some serious time crafting your essays and don’t procrastinate on them. You’re welcome to PM me your drafts when you have something and I can give you some pointers. Best of luck.

You look like a strong candidate to me. Just work on some polished essays and try to show some creativity in your honors statement. And try and get everything in by the priority deadline. Also, make sure you fully showcase your extracurriculars in your resume. Good luck!
