UT Pre-Pharmacy?

Hi! I was recently admitted to UT Austin but I’m from out of state and don’t really know much about how the school works. My portal says I was accepted with a major of Undeclared/Prepharmacy in the College of Natural Sciences. When I went to the CNS website, Prepharm wasn’t really listed anywhere. Does anyone know if this is a program where I am “undeclared” for the first few years and then naturally move up into a pharmacy program (0–>6)? Or is there more work to be done? I’m just really confused about my major~

Nope. You will have to apply to the pharmacy program once you have finished the required prereqs and have taken the PCAT. Some students choose to apply to the program once they have finished all their requirements, others may decide to finish their Bachelor’s degree in their respective major (which you will have to declare because you cannot stay undeclared forever)

At UT, the pharmacy program is a professional program which grants a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. UT’s program is arguably the highest ranking in the state of Texas and has like a 20% acceptance rate (very competitive)

@OhSorryYo thank you so much! Really helpful  Do you know when undeclared students declare a major? Is it usually near the beginning of their college career?

You’ll have to talk to your advisor about that, most students have an assigned major when they receive their acceptance letter.
