UT Scholarship chances?

Ok, so basically we are just thrilled that our daughter has been accepted to UT for the fall. She was top 11% with an ACT of "only" 27 when she applied last fall. She has been active in sports, community organizations, school clubs and such. Currently, she is in the top 8%, but I don't think that can change the original scholarship applications that were due on December 1st.

She has been offered admission, and has accepted the offer, in to the Liberal Arts College for Psychology. According to her FAFSA, we don't have need...but I beg to differ! What are the chances that she will be awarded anything, in regards to scholarships, from UT? I know they are highly competitive but I would love some insight from those of you who may have knowledge of situations similar to ours.

I think the chance of scholarship is pretty low. When the economy was good and the endowments are at its highest, only the top incoming students get scholarships. Usually you find out within a month of acceptance.
Also, UT is not in the habit of giving high dollar scholarship. I received one of the more prestigious 4 year scholarship. When I was freshmen, it was almost full tuition, but by the time I graduated, it only covered about 1 semester (due to tuition increases). So even if you get scholarship assistance, it’s not that much money over the course of 4 years.

Thanks for the reply. That is about what I expected! I suppose I will continue my local scholarship search and hope for the best!

With or without scholarships…she will get her degree from UT! Hook 'em Horns!!!

i really need scholarships too:( everyone says ut is cheap but i would still have to take out loans to go here
