D accepted to both A&M and UT Engineering (mechanical). While a lot comes down to school “fit”, I’m wondering if others can weigh in on comparisons between the two engineering programs – differences, level of difficulty, strengths, internships, job placement, etc.
You need to compare the curriculums from each school - each school will be different and many people don’t understand this and then get shocked when they realize they have to take a class outside their field. See which one your D likes better. This is critical for evaluating all engineering programs. UT and A&M are very different.
Last year we were certain our son would be attending TAMU but after getting financial aid pkg that was substantially different, he is now a Longhorn. The engineering programs national rankings can easily be accessed online through Forbes and others. We are now happy with UT Austin but were devastated at first. Either choice is good. Having an internship or job coming out of these programs is better than other schools. Good luck with your choice.
