I cannot decide. My major is biomedical engineering, which both have. I have good scholarships to both, though UH covers a bit more. (full tuition +3k at UTD, full tuition for 4 years and room and board for the first 2 years plus 2k for study abroad at UH)

Also, I was accepted into the honors colleges at both.

I live outside dfw so utd is closer, but I think I'd like the Houston area better...

So... which school is better for engineering and which school should I choose? I'm so equally torn, any input on the schools would be appreciated.

Why do you guys say UH? It seems that UTD is actually ranked slightly above UH in all the areas I could be interested in.
Yes, I am still deciding. My parents are pushing me toward UTD because of its proximity.

UTD has stronger students. If you look at the middle 50% SAT scores for UTD, particularly in math, they are quite a bit higher than UH. You’ll find stronger students at UTD in engineering, I would imagine.

I look at them as two different schools, with two different focuses.

UTD is probably the third academically ranked public school in the state, behind UT and A&M. Very strong in EE, Mech and Computer Science, but the BioMed Eng ug program is only 3 years old (they offered a Masters before that). They are working very hard, offering good merit aid, to continue to build on that reputation.

Houston is much bigger, with a more established Eng College. Strong ChemE, Mech and Civil, and lots of research going on.

My D looked at UTD (Houston was too close to home) for the free tuition and 1/2 Residence costs, but decided on Missouri S&T.

I would say that the true differentiator for you should be the Honors College. A former HS soccer teammate of my daughter’s is in the program, and loves it. She is involved in UG research, and has already spent time abroad in the first two years of study, with an opportunity next fall for a semester in Europe. The program has all the strengths of a big state research university with a small college feel.
