Anyone else going to UTD’s Scholar’s day on 10/19?
We are thinking to schedule personalized visit for NMSF benefits. I received e-mail confirming that can be arranged.
If you and other NMSF families who are interested in UTD we can go together as a group. Please chime in here if interested.
How was Scholar’s Day? I have a friend whose son forgot to register for it.
Does UTD offer a full ride for NMFs? Does A&M still offer President’s Endowed scholarships to NMFs?
To answer your questions on scholarships - UTD still does offer basically a full ride for NMF and offers $6000 for study abroad, totaling close to $100,000 for instate and $200,000 for OOS. A&M offers $7000/yr and an additional $500/yr for travel abroad. Additional scholarships could be offered but they are not guaranteed.
We had a great time at Scholars Day this weekend! UTD has made some big changes to deadline for the honors program and AES scholarship, I believe both have a hard Dec 1st deadline now. They will not considered updated scores, grades, rank received past 12/1 as they did in the past. They have also dropped the honors applications for National Merit students (before they were automatically admitted but they had to request being included in the honor program) all NM applicants are now automatically placed in CV (the honors program) but students can opt out if they’d like.
DS18 is thriving at UTD and although DS20 has always said he wanted to go to UTD this was the first time he seemed really excited about it. He even went to the book store on his own to buy some “spirit wear”
There will be National Merit Preview Days starting in March too.
Hello, thank you so much for the helpful info. I have also recently joined the UTD parents’ FB group for admitted/current students. We are registered for both the 2/22 Scholars Day and the NM Preview day on March 6.
@KRR12345 Having been to both (two different kids), there will be a lot of overlap I think Scholars Day is more geared toward high school juniors, they will mention programs that are currently past the deadlne like Mc Dermott it’s much more general than the National Merit Preview Day if you are close by and have time for both, sure but you really only need to the Preview Day

@KRR12345 Having been to both…
Thank you. Yes we are local, it’s just another chance to be on campus but we won’t stay for all of Scholars Day. Are you on the FB group? If so, I posted about the CS2 honors program recently; would you be willing to send me a PM?
We are from Northeast and would like to got for the ‘national merit scholars program preview’ event. Does anyone know if they may cover hotel stay or flight ticket? Thanks!
Nope - you are on your own for hotel and flights, they will feed you a light breakfast and lunch though:-)
Has anyway that has registered for National Merit Preview Day gotten a confirmation???
Thank you!
We only got an automatic confirmation, no additional information as said to be sent days before the event.
