Son was accepted to UTD back in October. He had a 4.0 GPA and 34 ACT score. Was offered AES honors scholarship (full tuition and fees plus $3,000 per semester).

Your ACT score isn’t high enough for guaranteed admission. For that you need an ACT of at least 26. You should take sample tests for both the ACT and the SAT to see which test works better for you and you might even want to take a prep class. My daughter raised her SAT by 15% with a prep class and that was enough to get her a nice scholarship that she wasn’t in contention for at all before.

The information below was cut&pasted from UTD’s website.

Students graduating in good standing from an accredited high school who have completed the full Texas recommended college-track high school curriculum and who have academic records meeting one of the following criteria will be admitted to UT Dallas:

An SAT score of 1200 (combined math and critical reading) or higher
or
A composite ACT score of 26 or greater
or
A class rank in the top 15% of their high school class

I was accepted as an academic admit. Rank: 20%, GPA (5.0): 4.7, ACT (comp): 29

What was your GPA at the end of the latest semester? I’m not sure if I would wait that long, especially if you want to live on campus. As for your ACT, I’ve heard that it’s too late to take it another time, but I’d double check that. Best of luck to you.
