UTexas

How does the process work?

I just submitted my application...cutting it close, I know. But I already sent the transcript on the 15th of February and everything's done now.

However, does that I sent it now mean that I made the deadline...or do they count it by the processing date of the application (processed date).

How did any of you submit a resume to them because my applytexas.org application only had an employment history and not a personal accomplishments history.

Do you think I should fax it or express it to the, them this afternoon?

How are UT admissions for transfers?

What sucks for me is that my SATs or APs won't help me out anymore because UT doesn't consider those (although I am helped by the no HS transcript). I have a 3.54 in all upper level (except for Calculus and Chemistry) honors course-16 hours and am currently enrolled in 18 hours, including two senior level econ courses. My resume includes all my board and scores and such...will that make a big deal?

Thanks...if I don't get WashU (I'm really stressing), then I would like to have UT for sure. I need to guarantee this one, so any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Ahhh, anything?

Don't worry...I just sent mine recently as well.

Everything has to be in their office by March 1st. They are not lenient at all and postmark doesn't count. You should use your UTEID to check up on status which will tell you whether they consider your application complete. HURRY!

You can mail it to them as well....which reminds me...

The thing is they don't necessarily start evaluating applications on March 1st. Since the resume is an optional document they will not reject your application because you haven't sent it. An adcom I spoke with said to just make sure to have any extra documents (not required) in by March 6th...so I'm just going to mail it regular, maybe FedEx.

That I am doubtful of. My friend was accepted to McCombs last year and he was missing 3 out of the 5 required courses; he had a good GPA (3.9) and great ECs, but we both think it was his test scores (1520/1600) that pushed him over the edge. They do at least look at them if you send them: define the word "consider" as you will...

And you shall. Friday is decisions for WashU...I'm kinda nervous but I kinda don't care that much since Wesleyan is my definite favorite. I'll be freaking out in mid-May. :D

so when applying as a transfer, do you need to send SAT scores, particularly for UT austin? also what's the minimum transfer credits that a transfer student should have?

Test scores are not required but if they are high (especially like dearsir who has a perfect SAT) they can be very helpful; the same can be said for CC students that may be wanting to transfer into a difficult school like Eng. or Business.

I'm not sure about the min. # of credits but I think it is 15?

Minimum number of credits required is 30.

You need to have or be in the process of completing 30 by the time you enter Austin.

oh ok, is that for college for engineering too?

I think it's a gen req.

How do I get my UTEID? My app was complete this morning at 1:0something. I got the emails saying my application was submitted. That email also said:

Your application will be sent to the above school in the next two working days.

I used www.applytexas.org and did NOT register for an UTEID before applying. The admissions site never told me I had to. At any rate...what do I do now?

Call them tomorrow morning and tell 'em what's going on?

They register your UTEID for you. So don't create a new one! I think they'll send you your EID in an email or letter.

Is my application only complete when they send me a UTEID?

Stressing...

It will be emailed to you in 1-2 days.

Gotcha. But is my app only complete upon my receiving that UTEID?

My app's complete. Except...For some reason they're displaying my SAT Verbal score as a 720? I think that was my SAT II Latin score...iono.

I don't want to go through the hassle of fixing it if it won't make a big difference for UT. 800V or 720V? Haha...oh well.

Yay!! My app's complete too. I know I won't hear back from them until May but at least the pressure's off. One more school to go...

Oh we only hear back in May? Brilliant...

Well, since I don't have the required 30 credits yet, they won't look at my application until the end of the spring semester. You have much more than 30 credits, right? So they might get back to you much earlier.

Dearsiryes - I'm currently a freshman at UT and I had the same sort of thing happen to my application, they mixed up two numbers (really it would have worked out for the better for me haha) but then right after I got my acceptance I noticed the numbers had changed back... possibly they go back and review before making final decisions? Don't worry about it.

Well, I've known people that received an acceptance in April...it's kinda on a rolling basis, but most of the decisions seem to come out in May.
