Utilizing Academic Fresh Start

Hey everyone!

I am interested about the academic fresh start program. 'Be A Longhorn' doesn't have much information about it, and I was really just interested in others past experiences.

Currently I am enrolled in ACC with a 3.4-3.5 GPA while working a lead position at my job (w/ eng phys 2 and cal 3). I have a pretty bad GPA from my previous bout at school, none of which would be incorporated into my current GPA.

I am applying for the ECE program at Cockrell school. I have a pretty good resume with the start up that I just resigned from, as lead systems integrator... so I have a decent shot at UT Austin.

But, what I don't understand is the process of utilizing the academic fresh start. From the way it seems, they give you a decision and you have to call back to see your options? That doesn't sound very promising to me, and I was wondering if there are means to use this in the application process.

Being rejected and then applying again is not an option, seeing as UT only accepts new students for Fall semester only.

I would greatly appreciate any information regarding this issue, even more appreciation from those that have used the AFS programs successfully, and how it was done!

Hi, I am in a similar situation as you, but farther away from actually transferring. I just started out at ACC. Were you successful at transferring?
