UT's New Acting Program

If the size is not a minus for a student, (and it is a very individual thing) then UT does have a whole lot to offer and it is a very good school. And yes, we are friendly down here. Be warned though. BBQ means beef here in Tejas. Keeping that in mind will help to blend in with the natives. ;)

Muttle 1, how and when did your son hear from UT about his acceptance?

My daughter auditioned in January with the call backs and she has heard nothing. We are in the state (both parents are alumni, as well as most of the aunts, uncles and cousins) Her high school has the top 3/4 of the graduating class with a 90% avg. or higher (most with AP’s)- so no way with her 3.95 (AP’s all 4 years) will she be in the top 10%. I thought she would not get in because of the top 10 percent requirement, then we were told that the Theatre Arts Department was the only one that did their own admissions and the top 10% didn’t apply… So we got HOPEFUL and now she has heard nothing… She has been accepted to several schools including CalArts (very excited about that one), but from a financial stand point UT would be much more affordable for us.

My son auditioned at the school in December and found out at the end of January. My son fell in love with the school. We are out of state so we are waiting for the financial package. Then he’s in. You daughter has amazing stats. She would be in at any of the NY schools easily. calarts is phenomenal. But I totally understand about the price tag. UT is a bargain and from what I’ve learned is an extremely well respected program. I hope your D gets in!!!

Hello there. I know that this is an older thread, but my D was admitted to the BFA Acting program at UT and is VERY excited about it. She also was accepted at Michigan and a few smaller programs and is waiting to hear back from some biggies. She thinks at this point that UT may be her 1st choice irrespective of how the other applications turn out. I wanted to see if any of your kids attended the BFA program and if so whether you could give us any info, etc. about the program. I don’t know much about it
