Sorry, that I am posting this in the UT Austin thread. UTSA needs its own forum! lol (:
Well anyways, I am doing the CAP program at UTSA and i have a question about Housing...

So like an idiot, I waited too long to pay for my original Housing Application to stay in Chapparal, Laurel, or San Saba.
As a result, those three dorms are no longer accepting applications, but offered to put me on the waiting list.
Of course I asked to be put on the waiting list considering that those are considered the better places to stay in comparison to Chisolm Hall.

I am, however, looking at Chisolm Hall as an option. I have to pay $225 to fully complete my application.

My question is, should I go ahead and pay that $225? or should I wait a little bit and see if a spot at the other three dorms will open up?

And also, if a spot at those other places open up, would I be refunded my $225 from Chisolm Hall?

Thank you so much for anybody who answers! (:

Congrats on CAP - my son did this option at UTSA as well and is now happily in Austin. He enjoyed his year at UTSA as well and got a great start. ANYway…he stayed at Chapparal which was great - if you have any chance of getting in there, I would recommend it (or Laurel). If you for sure want to be on campus, I would go for Chisolm, but call the housing office and ask them about the refund if a spot opens on the waitlist.

My son also went to UTSA and was in the CAP program. He loved it and is now about to start at UT. He also lived in Chap, which was a great dorm. Check with Chisolm on the refund. Chisolm is run by a private company, while Chap and Laurel are run by the school. Chisolm is older and not as nice as Chap and Laurel. I agree that you should try to live on campus if you can, so if Chisolm is your only option, I’d take it. Several of my son’s friends lived in Chisolm, but they did spend a lot of their time at Chap.

Hmm, I’m pretty sure Chap and Laurel will already be filled up so your best bet is San Saba, that’s where I’ll be (I’m CAP too). You may be stuck at Chisolm but call to check it out.
