i just got my housing/meal packet!!! so far, i prefer mcCormick (i like those suites). Brown is a good option as well.

mccormick isn't suites ... its corridor (hall) style. "Alderman road" or new dorms have the suite style setup.

I don't know yet, but I do like the location of McCormick as opposed to Alderman.

I have walked from the farthest away new dorms to the lawn ...and it'll whip you into shape, thats for sure :)

alderman and mccormick didn't really seem that far away from each other to me.....alderman was pretty close to the athletic facility which I might say is pretty amazing

i'm sorry, i meant alderman

Is anyone considering Hereford???

Probably Alderman or Brown. I'm a little confused as to what the whole deal behind Brown is because during the tour they kept saying the "artsy" types but I also heard that wasn't true from somebody else..so I'm not sure what to think. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I'll be in either Webb, Maupin, or Watson (Alderman Rd.)

Hereford is far away from classes

I'll also be in either Webb, Maupin, or Watson. If I had a choice, though, I might consider Hereford because of the high likelihood that I'd get a single after my first year, and also because it doesn't close over winter break. Then again, I don't really have any idea how far away Hereford is.

I'm applying to Brown, but the application itself is insane.

I think I want to live in brown but am worried that the people will be too weird for words. I love quirkiness and interesting people but there is a fine line between interesting and flat-out bizarre. I love everything about brown, however (student-run, live with upperclassmen, community feel, proximity to rest of campus, A/C!), so I will probably apply.

Brown only accepts around 30 first years, so i will likely request either McCormick or Hereford.

I've decided on ALDERMAN!!!!!!!!

Love the suite idea, getting to know really well some 9 other wahoos sounds great.

I'm sorry, but Alderman just SUCKS! I've met 2 UVA graduates who lived in Alderman. Each of them told me: if given a second chance, she would have chosen mcCormick. Apparently, these 2 graduates didnt have tight relationships with their suite mates.

You can't base an opinion like that on the experiences of two of your friends. There are plenty of people who like suite-style dorms and plenty who like hall-style dorms. It's foolish to debate over which is better...they're both very different options.

it's true :)

or just an ignorant thing to say ...

i'm thinking alderman also
