heh. wow - congrats.

him and one out of every two! that took the exam

Really? Thats a crazy stat ... I didn't know that.

an 800 in SAT II: Chinese is about a 55 percentile, even the mean score is around a 756!!! I promise i am not making it up, lol.

I agree with u :)

but, that test is not easy. it's not like you can get a 600 after taking 2 years of Chinese courses. You have to have the ability to read extremely fast. only the people who excel in Chinese have the guts to take it (none of my American-born Chinese friends who speak crappy Chinese took it), that's why the scores are usually very high

What's the point of having a the test if most of the people who take it are immigrants or second generation? How many high schools even offer chinese?

only 2 people (including me meself) took SAT2 Chinese in my high school. there're lots of other SATIIs for uncommon languages: Hebrew, Japanese, Korea, Arabic. etc............

Hey! Gov't/Foreign Affairs major

Hope to live in McCormick!

Going to the C orientation!!

IM me sometime: Surf11100

When's the earliest date you can register for courses?

I'm in SEAS too, so there really isn't much to think about. For those doing engineering, do you guys realise that the recommended course load starts at 15 hrs/week then quickly climbs to 17-18 hrs/week for subsequent semesters? I'm wondering if I should be taking more in the first sem to lighten my load later.

Hey. My name is Katie and I'm from Richmond. I'm uber excited about being a wahoo!!!

Session B, July 6th-7th
School of Architecture- Urban Planning

I'm probably going to try for Brown....(it sounds awesome). My second choice is McCorrmick.

You can register during orientation.

Another member of the class of '09...my name is Sean, I'm from Richmond as well, and I'm going to the July 14-15 session. I want to study marketing through the commerce school as well as visual arts.

Katie... I think I'm going to try for brown too, but I'm not totally sure that I want to give up the freshman dorm experience as I will never be able to go back...

So does this mean the people who will attend the earliest summer orientation get to register earlier?

hey sean...I was talking to one of my friends about brown and she said that even if we stay at brown its not like we will miss out on the 'freshman experience.' We will still meet first years in our classes and our clubs that we join. And we can always go out-- it's not like we have to socialize exclusively with Brown people.

P.S. What highschool do you go to?
I go to Trinity.

i will also be a first year and im very excited. i'm from pulaski virginia. i hope to be a government/foreign affairs major. feel free to im me...
DubyaDubya04

tennis, yea, (i am registered for the 1st one) but dont worry UVA opens up more slots in classes for every session

Where do we find out what our first semester schedule is? or what courses we can take the firfst semester ?

During orientation, i think.

Sincerestudent, I received a packet today of class registration info, and it included a booklet of all the classes being offered for first years this fall. Also, at "Days on the Lawn," I picked up the official UVA register, which has every course offered. You can probably find the same info online.
