For all those that got something, are any of you NOT entering CLAS?

i didn't get mine yet either...july 6,7 orientation for me

are you doing engineering? If so - I think you might be getting yoru stuff a little later.

I'm doing the July 11-12 orientation.

June 30 - July 1 Orientation
First one!

session B orientation... echols scholars! yeah : ) anyone else echols here? or any idea what they mean by echols getting prior registration? do we register before the orientation? ahhh so confused, they havent send me anything specific about this.

premed-chem and math/music major i think :D

priority registration doesn't kick in yet, sorry

i'm echols too, but going to the june30/july1 orientation.. i think that's A?

cool major, lonelychickk!

"priority registration doesn't kick in yet, sorry"

?

I have no idea how this whole echols thing comes in to play... i mean, i know we get a separate dorm our first year... and "priority registration"... but everyone registers at the orientation, right? so how does that give us priority registration? or... does this only apply starting your second semester your freshman year or something?
oh, and we do get exempt from ALL of the area requirements as i understand, yes?

oooh! another question for everyone, really. so i want to take french in college, but ive never taken french before.... i dont have to take the placement exam thing, right?

also! anyone doing music? taking any "private instruction" courses? i was wondering if/how you set up for your audition time and stuff... i went to the website, www.virginia.edu/music/auditions/ but none of the links for specific groups worked.... : (

lonelychick, I'm an incoming Echols scholar, as well. Echols scholar designation gives the Echols scholar priority registration, special advising, a first-year living experience with other Echols scholars, and some other benefits. I believe we will get priority registration over other first years, but the rest of the students have already registered. From the spring semester on, we will get priority over everyone (except more senior Echols people, i guess.)

You might also want to peruse the following two pages; they're fairly self-explanatory and quite helpful.

http://web.virginia.edu/epap/

the epap link really really helped! thank you so much!!
and yes, that makes sense about the priority registration thing.

so then another question i have is... if you go to the COD website, for each course, they tell you the # of students "currently enrolled" in those courses.... are those numbers like current-current? as in, as of right now, how many people have signed up for those courses for this upcoming semester? or are those the number of people who were enrolled in the course this past semester? because many of those are already mostly filled in... like the general bio/chem courses... :(

I'm not really sure, lonelychick...but i'm sure you'll find out soon enough at orientation. Even if you can't get the courses you want during the first semester, you'll probably be able to get them second semester. BTW, are you really lonely? lol

lonelychikk - I do think those reflect the current enrollment for Fall '05 butttttttttt they add slots at each orientation session.
Think about it this way: If they said right now that they'll open up all the seats available in the classroom then we really wouldn't have any variety in the courses we choose from at orientation ... so they open a certain number to returning students (which is what you see in the COD) and then at each orientation session add more slots for the incoming students.

my orientation is august 1&2nd 2!!
