Thought I would start a wait list thread. Has anyone read any statistics as to how many UVA offered to be placed in the wait list and how many accepted? Any thoughts on % chance of getting an offer?

As the offer notices are received - please post the following:

1) Did you communicate interest to the school since your wait list letter
2) In-state or out of state
3) Do you expect to reeive financial aid
4) What school did you accept on May 1st
5) Do you now plan to attend UVA

No need to post grades or ECs as everyone on the wait list likely has very similar credentials.

When will people start getting the offers? According to Dean J, they offered spots on April 30 last year.

So, do you think offers are going to be made tomorrow. Last year, Dean J said they made a few offers on April 30.

I’m on the waitlist.

Waitlisted

There’s news concerning the waitlist. Check out Dean J’s blog for more info. She says, “We’ll know more next week, but I don’t think we’ll be going to the waiting list in a big way.”

Yup. looks like they won’t take many (if any) of the waitlist this year.

It looks like the very successful run by the men’s basketball team in winning the ACC regular season and ACC tournament as well as it’s Sweet Sixteen appearance, had a very positive impact on UVA’s yield this year. You can never underestimate the power of a strong performance by a highly ranked (academic) university’s men’s basketball or football team as a powerful draw for high school students.

It is interesting to note that UVA has always gone to its wait list for as long as statistics are available.

As many know, UVA really has 10 wait list (In-state and OOS for each of the five undergrad programs). UVA does not publish stats for each of these wait lists, only the total number.

Dean J just said that they have made offers for the architecture school…
