My first elite college acceptance! Feel so much stress lifted off of my shoulders! FWIW, I wrote my essays in 2 hours total and applied on the day the application was due. I spent hours on my ED and other EA school’s essays and didn’t get into either. Funny how things work.

What’s the difference between the SIS account and the “account at Office of Admission, University of Virginia” on the uva website? For some reason my usernames are different for the two and it’s kind of confusing me.

GPA 3.91 out of 4.33
SAT 2230 (CR 770, M 800, W 660)

I, as well as many of my teachers, think my essays are stellar, and activities are definitely good enough.
Don’t really know why, maybe because my gpa is not high enough or the fact that I’m Asian male? Who knows, just pretty upset right now.
This is my third deferral in a row, previously got deferred from Brown and UMichigan.

Enthralled!

on the other hand, I had higher than average scores and gpa and some really good essays but was rejected (OOS). just remember y’all it’s not all about the academics and just because you don’t get into a school that you think you will doesn’t mean you won’t get in other places or that you aren’t smart. (at least that’s what i’m convincing myself.)

To everyone accepted:
Congratulations!!!
To everyone deferred:
Great job!!! Have hope in UVA but also keep your mind open for other awesome opportunities.
To everyone who was rejected:
You are intelligent and extraordinary. Remind yourself of that and respond to this rejection with grace. Wherever you end up will be where you are supposed to be, you just have not realized that yet.
Sincerely,
A no-longer prospective UVA student somewhat giving advice to myself

He’ll complete an associate degree in programming and will graduate from community college at the same time he graduates from high school.

His first essays sucked and i made him do re-writes that NAILED IT for showing his personality. Never underestimate the value of discarding your first attempt and starting from scratch.

FYI: he didn’t list his race on the common app and if there had been an option to avoid listing sex/gender, he would’ve taken that opportunity as well.

He would never post here but i’m just so proud and happy he’s been accepted. Congratulations to everyone else who’s been accepted. UVA is a wonderful school.
