UVA and Virginia Tech alumni

Does anyone know how many alumni of UVA and of VT live in the DC region?

Tons. They are all over and my kids are 2 of them. UVa kid is already there and VT kid will be moving there this summer after graduation. Many DC area companies, consulting firms, government agencies, etc. recruit at both UVa and VT. Why do you ask?

I’m looking for specific numbers but can find nothing on the web.

I’m trying to understand the local market and how prominent UVA and VT are there relative to other schools. My sense is similar to yours, but I can’t find the numbers to substantiate it. Any suggestions?

You can check with the local alumni chapters but not sure that would really get you the info you seem to want. There are TONS of UVa and VT grads in Virginia, DC and Maryland. Lots of recruiting is regional so ,of course, you will see lots of UVa and VT grads in the DC area. Just as you would probably see lots of Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan grads in the Chicago area. Many schools , and most “elite” schools will have representation in the DC area, some more than others.

Agree with sevmom. I live in NoVA and know lots of UVA and VT alums (not me, though). In addition to the local alum associations, the alumni relations office at the respective schools might have that information.

More of them there than most anywhere else, I would think. That’s nearest biggest cluster of jobs. to those schools.

Enough that the Washington Post covers the Hokies as a “local” team even though Blacksburg is a solid 4-5 hour drive.
