UVa - Beautiful Grounds, Beautiful Students

Back in 1996, Abercrombie & Fitch toured around the country looking for schools to do photo shoots for their 1st catalogue. After visiting UVa and seeing the beauty of the Grounds and the student body, they chose to shoot only at Virginia, and they used 25 students as models.

Michelle Kang ('99) was Miss Virginia in 1996. She's the first minority to hold the title in Virginia.

Andrea Plummer ('00) was Miss New York in 2000.

Jessica Lynch ('00) was Miss New York in 2003.

Deidre Downs is the current Miss America. Deidre was an Echols Scholar & a member of the women's varsity volleyball team until she broke her hip and returned home to Alabama, where she finished her undergraduate degree at Samford.

As I mentioned before, Kaplan College Guides named UVa the "Hottest College for Fitness." 94% of the student body works out in some form.

As for the Grounds, UVa is the only school in the entire world included in the United Nations World Heritage List along with other architectural masterpieces such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Egyptian Pyramids, and Versailles.

UVA should be an Ivy League... I wonder when the Ivy League will admit more colleges...

A & F is genuine, so it must be good.

You're probably following me up on my PM. :p

Thanks. :D

For some reason, the link I included isn't working. Here it is again.

thanks... i'll take a gander.

Eh... she's not that hot... some of the girls on the other page are pretty good, though.

Hm, beautiful people, is there love at UVa with all the workload? heh..

Prolly... Flip... did you apply there?

UVA James,

LOL! I was checking out some of the contestants from a number of the states, and a few of them look tragic. Miss Colorado, Miss Illinois, Miss Maine, Miss Wyoming, Miss South Dakota...I mean, seriously! They're okay, and all. But there have to be hotter girls in those states. Miss Iowa, Miss Maryland, Miss Missouri are cute.

mmm... must've been a bad picture, then.

You're probably right. Some people just photograph better than others. Speaking of which, is "America's Next Top Model" on today? (...rummaging through the TV schedule...) No, tomorrow. Darn!

haha yeah tomorrow...

While studying will be important during college, I do want to continue having an active social life with good friends. Not the fare weather friends, but good friends with excellent friendships. I also want to have a family sometime... and would really like to increase the odds. ;)

Thanks for posting this article. It's been helpful... I think I am being a little too obsessed... because if I'm not accepted, I do not want to be mad to the extreme.

Hey, it's all good. Don't worry about being obsessed. I've been obsessed w/ UVa ever since the first day I visited it, and that was like over 10 years ago...oooooh man, what's wrong w/ me?

Well, just relax, and keep your options open. There are other wonderful schools out there besides UVa.

oh yeah, UVa is that good. There's all other schools under UVa around here. It seems like UVA or BUST for me. There's such a distinct reputation that comes from UVa! I want in!!! NEXT FRIDAY I WILL KNOW!

oh man... good luck.

Flip, me too! Dear God, it's agony waiting. And I'm getting more and more pessimistic as the days go by. Ah well, at least that way I won't be so depressed come rejection day.

UVa is known for its pretty people. Plus that whole recent uproar over some students posing for PlayBoy is interesting. Heh.

Don't stress yourself too much. Just in case you don't get in Early Decision, keep in mind that you might still get in Regular Decision. Only 30% of the class is filled by ED applicants. Good luck! Fingers crossed. Toes crossed.

are you guys out of state... what were your sats?

That's cool. I like your modest SAT score. Hopefully you will get in... I do not have much respect for the SAT. Your GPA, rank, ECs, and schedule are awesome.

Hopefully you will get in. :D
