UVA Class of 2019 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

Waitlisted instate. 2180 SAT and 4.3 GPA. Tech it is!

Rejected OOS. Congratulations to all of those who’ve been accepted. UVA was not my first choice – so I am not crushed – but an acceptance would have felt great.

Does anybody know if emails are sent in an order according to location because i haven’t received my email yet.

@letmein56; no email, go to your SIS account

@letmein56 check the admission portal

Not sure, but I’m international and I received mine early on from what I can gather

@jamesjunker, I will continue to hope the best for you!

NGL, kinda confused. Waitlisted instate 2220, 4.2. I based all my applications off of last year’s acceptance rates (UVA was 30% overall, higher for instate), but they dropped down to 11% this year, so a school that I thought was a midrange for me turned out to be an Ivy-equiv, acceptance-wise. w/e, I want WM or NYU, so not that bothered. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Thank you so much @oldUVAgrad, I don’t think my future will be at UVa but it means a lot that others are looking out for me :slight_smile:

How do y’all know the drop to 11% acceptance?

@Catmatmc‌ In the letter they say how many spots were given to how many applicants, so it’s easy to figure out the new acceptance rate

THE ACCEPTANCE RATE WAS NOT 11%

You’re not taking into account yield. They know that (I’m making this number up) roughly 30% offered admissions will accept and attend. So this year they probably accepted 9,000 and only expect a third of those to attend to fill those 3,600 seats.

This year was an absolute massacre, good god. Our salutatorian got waitlisted, and everyone else I’ve spoken to in the top 10 was rejected. All had outstanding ECs (but meh SATs). Instate.

I wanted engineering–if I got in (which I did), can I assume that I got engineering? I don’t remember applying specifically to engineering, just the general school with my major of choice being CS. Sorry if I got this messed up, most of the schools I applied to require you to apply directly to school of engineering.

Rejected by my top school, waitlisted at my next two choices. I think it’s time to bring out the cookie-dough ice cream :’(

@london2va Wait… what? I don’t think that’s true.

.

@BassGuitar #2 and #4 in the class at my D’s school here instate got in that we know of. (D was #4) Both IB students.

@london2va As did I, and I’ve researched the school for years and never heard that. But I’ll take your word for it.
