UVA Class of 2019 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

When does info about echols come out today?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing @JalapenoGreens‌ does anyone remember from last year?

We try to send our emails in the evening to avoid distracting students at school.

When is financial aid information sent to accepted students?

Did Echols Scholars notification already go out?

Echols Scholars notifications were released several minutes ago along with invitations to Days on the Lawn

I got an email saying that I was nominated as an Echols scholar! I hope it wasn’t a mistake but I’m pretty much 99% set on going to UVA now… Echols was the deciding factor for me  @"Dean J"‌ It wasn’t a mistake right?? If I got the email?

For anyone curious, I detailed the admissions stats here

@lopeztlo7 Thank you for that! I was waitlisted here and accepted at Wake so I might be there next year.

I’ve been selected as an Echols Scholar! I’m so excited!

Me too! UVA seems all the more appealing

@bassguitar have you visited WF? Gorgeous campus. It was one of my S’s top choices. Outstanding food in their dining halls as well…

Congratulations @stilchs4! My D was selected for Echols as well.

Is it harder for someone out of state to acclimate to UVA?

@vaboots‌ and to everyone in general: how to you view the Echols scholars program? Significant? A contributing factor to a decision? Non-important?

I’m not sure how it will affect D’s decision. (She’s trying to process everything right now.) We are hoping to learn much more at Days on the Lawn.

@stilchs4‌ For me personally, Echols is a huge boost and incentive for me to attend UVA. I love the new dorms. My older brother was an Echols scholar and the new dorms are really nice. Having class-choosing priorirty as well as being exempt from class requirements is another plus. Also, knowing that UVA chose you to be one of only ~200 echols scholars means a lot to me. Before, I wasn’t so set on going to UVA. Now, I really want to go. I am still waiting on Duke, Princeton, and Carnegie Mellon SCS as those are the only schools I would consider going to over UVA. Even if I got into Cornell or Johns Hopkins (Two schools ranked higher than UVA), I would still choose UVA.

Got waitlisted at Virginia but into both Northwestern and Vanderbilt. 4.45 W and 2340. Guess they really don’t like out of staters

When does the financial aid package get posted? Would be nice if prior to Days on the Lawn.

Hm…the timing was in the admission letter, @veryproudfather. They are posting on April 1st. As I’m sure you’re aware, they have a last minute change in the loan caps to factor in.
