UVA Class of 2022 RD decisions

Ours on portal as well…OOS and No Aid for us. Coincidentally, also waiting on Villanova and hoping for better news.

Having to wait almost 4 month for Villanova has sucked (EA accepted there). Like many have posted in the Villanova forum I don’t get why it takes so long to get FA awards from them.

For my daughter it is UVA or Villanova. She has discarded all other options at this point. And the decision sadly may straight up come down to dollars. She really likes both schools.

Has anyone received mail from UVA? The acceptance letter said they would mail something but I haven’t received anything yet and I live in NYC

No acceptance letter in the mail for daughter- in Philly.

@emasatruc: According to my USPS informed delivery, my daughter will receive the acceptance letter today.

Just checked our daughter’s portal and there were a couple of items in the To-Do list for financial aid. I uploaded what they needed, so hopefully an award will be coming soon.

just as point of ref - my son got 2x the FA grant from Villanova vs UVA. Much better - however he really believe UVA is a better choice for business/finance. Other opinions? We are visiting UVA for admitted students day in a few weeks for first time… no interest in seeing Villanova now that accepted to UVA. Side note - USC gave us almost nothing! don’t believe anything you read! this FA game makes no sense.

I was just accepted into UVA, does anyone know where to find your Student System ID for The Financial Aid Application Certification Form?

@onlyamom1 Big difference in terms of the business school because at Villanova you start as a Freahman, at UVA you apply as a 2nd year and start 3rd year. You have to be willing to take the risk of not getting in. I think the stats are around 65 acceptance. Look on the Mcintire blog for the most recent stats released a few weeks ago. Mcintire is definitely ranked higher for business but Villanova is good too. Great school though and provides a quality education if you do t get into the business school .

Funny to read your post. My D was down to deciding on UVA or Villanova (accepted EA to Nova, RD to UVA) - we are in state for UVA. She is for Liberal Arts not Business. Fairly certain she is picking UVA as she has looked at the numbers for both and even though UVA offered ZERO aid and Nova was very generous she is being very realistic and seeing UVA is doable and probably with no Loan debt and for what we have budgeted/saved. Nova would not only be multiple loans but more than our budget/saved amount.

Final decision not made yet but its interesting listening to her talk about it and say wow my 18 year old is actually thinking about this in a practical manner. Of course if she was super practical she would be taking VCU’s very generous offer and commuting each day and be even further ahead but alas VCU is not the school she wants to attend.

Best of luck to all of you on your decisions.

I was told by a TJ student that over 200 were offered admissions - are you saying that is not the case? I’ve seen stats from previous years indicating that 150+ students from TJ attending UVA. it is by far the biggest number compared to other NOVA high schools. And many of the other high schools have qualified students from the GT program who also work hard and deserve a spot at the top VA school. Frankly, second generation students at disadvantage at all top schools.

Heads up official admission letter/packet was in our mailbox last night. We are in VA about 65 mins from UVA. And for anyone following my D chose UVA last night over Villanova. We accepted admission and paid her deposit. She is very excited as are we. Just not looking forward to 4 months from now when we drop her off. Hard to believe she is 18 and heading to college soon. Man I feel old.

Congrats on D making a decision! My son is visiting UCLA and UVA admitted students day in few weeks to decide…never even seen UVA… we are CA residents so UCLA has big cost advantage. I think he is leaning towards big loans and UVA though due to biz program reputation. As before, his other top choice USC gave no finl aid so – off the list and wont consider the great VIllanova offer. I am a bit worried about the UVA McIntire acceptance in 2 yrs… but he is not - SO…

@blowfish7494 Congrats! I wish we were VA Residents, your schools are superb. As an OOS Resident, UVA costs nearly as much as Villanova. Best of luck to you and yours…a great choice!

Sounds like me. I’m between UVA and Villanova. I want villanova but I need to see where money is. I’m in PA so UVA will also be expensive

We are still waiting on financial aid. I didn’t realize they still needed some documents. Uploaded them on Wednesday. Very anxious! What kind of aid are other OOS people getting? 1430 SAT. 4.3 WGPA #3 in her class…strong leadership and EC.

Does anyone know how much UVA gives to applicants? Their online net price calculator said i would expect to pay around 10k per year. I’ve heard that UVA guarantees to meet all need, but should i expect my financial aid package to mirror their online net price calculator.

My son with 36 ACT and 1 in class is getting no grant aid. Emory, with a cost of attendance about $6k higher, is offering a $15k grant. Supposedly both are need-based, but it’s hard to understand.

no - your NPC can be dramatically different … or close… really each situation is totally different… just manage expectations. However, I have called 3x since our FA award was released … and the FA office is very helpful and willing to discuss questions. …their appeal process is however very delayed and after May 1 decision date.

I am interested to learn about your push for 1st Gen students over 2nd, 3rd Gen. I would like to know the stats of TJ student offers vs other NOVA schools.
