UVA Class of 2022

Hi everyone! it’s been a few weeks since the EA deadline and i realized there wasn’t a thread so i thought it would be nice to start one  good luck everyone!!

I am so excited and nervous for decisions! When do EA decisions usually come out for UVA? I am an out-of-stater so I know my chances are much lower.

FYI @canigetahoyaa you posted this in the Georgetown thread by accident (I applied there too  )

I believe at the end of January @seekerofcollege

I applied to both these schools as well!

Hope we hear soon from UVA

DD’s common app was downloaded to UVA on Dec 28, how long has it been taking to get a SIS account? Thanks

My daughter is an EA applicant. I’m concerned about her first semester transcript not being available in time for decisions. With the way Christmas fell this year, she got out of school for winter break very late and isn’t going back until Monday, January 8th. Teachers then have another week to input grades (and so far only one of seven has done following finals.) If UVA doesn’t receive her grades until mid-month, does that mean they woudn’t be used in the EA decision?

@TTdd16 My daughters school doesn’t even end it first semester until January 26th. So they will not see her 1st semester grades before EA decisions. I assume many others in the same situation so I wouldn’t sweat it.

No school’s first semester transcripts are available for EA. That’s why many high schools around Virginia, at least, recommend NOT applying EA if your student could use a GPA boost from first semester senior year AP classes or such.

@mclmom, I would guess it would depend on the school and its calendar whether a first semester transcript is available in time. In other years, my daughter’s final grades, from a school that starts early in August, have been available very early in January, so I would think they could be used for EA review. In addition, in @“Dean J”'s blog at the end of November, she wrote this: “If you attend a school on a semester system, we know mid-year grades aren’t ready yet (see the “After You Submit” section of the application instructions). We leave the mid-year report on the to-do list so you know it will be expected. Once a file is marked complete, students often stop checking their SIS account (until decisions get released!). If we waited until the end of the semester to add the mid-year report to checklists, may students wouldn’t see that new requirement.”

With out-of-state admissions being so competitive, an additional semester of great grades might help, I’d think. But would love to hear from @“Dean J” if the midyear report is indeed used for EA decisions, even if it’s not received until mid-January.

I’m overwhelmed with excitement to hear back sometime later this month. Does anybody want to chance me for EA here?

So nervous for the decision. I feel like there is a strong chance I could get in but also there is that feeling of I definitely could get rejected.

Also does anyone know what type of financial aid they offer to out-of-state students? The tuition is so expensive and there is no way I will be able to afford it without a decent amount of financial aid. I am middle-class which means I usually don’t qualify for financial aid but I still don’t have enough of my own money to pay for it.

esket : check out http://financialaid.virginia.edu/ UVa has good need-based financial aid for Out of state students, but they will expect persons to take out a full set of stafford loans, and part of the package typically involves work study.

@esketit2022 My S is graduating from UVa SEAS as an out of state student in May. We are low income. My S has about 28k in loans and we’ve paid about 7k out of pocket (most of that in the last 2 years as our income went up some). Hope this helps.
