ge how many schools did u apply
Daughter’s best friend accepted to UVA. Was also waitlisted at BC. Odd, thought it would have been the other way around. We live in MA.
Legacy?
17 haha
Congratulations, that’s fantastic! I see you around the boards and I look forward to seeing where your daughter finally lands. What a brutal year.
Nope.
Anyone know chances of getting off the waitlist, especially this year? This is my third waitlist of the week and my number one choice
Congratulations! My son also accepted OOS. Any idea what the OOS acceptance rate was this year? He was so excited!!!
From what I saw, OOS acceptance rate the year:
18% EA
15% RD
Please be sure to review the historical data on the Waiting List FAQ page. This was linked in the letter. We have over a decade of data there.
That being said, there is no way to know how much waiting list movement there will be this year.

My son was accepted RD OOS - Echols Scholar
Wahoo!
Thank you so much! I continue to be impressed with your comments and help.
Only 890 RD Virginia offers? Wow. Thankful that my student is one. And very thankful to be chosen an Echols Scholar.
I’m very proud of my state schools.
Guys, I have a question… I’m an incoming international freshman this year, and will be majoring in economics. I was accepted into some schools, but the three that I’m mainly considering are UVA, UT Austin and UCSD. I know that academically they are pretty much at the same level, but I’d like to know, considering this is the UVA thread, what aspects of UVA you think are better than UT and UCSD. Thanks!
My close friend is not on this forum, but I wanted to comment his acceptance! Somehow UVA accepted two OOS kids from a tiny public high school for the same exact program.
I cannot comment on major or UCSD. Being an UVA alumni live near Austin, I can assure you UVA experience in a beautiful vibrant town within 2 hours from DC is not easily substituted by other major city schools. I would assume DC also provides plenty of intern opportunities. I stumbled upon UVA as an international student and it has been one of the best choices in my life including meeting my better half in front of the Rotunda. Your mileage may vary though LOL!
Awesome! Thank you very much!
We are the opposite, accepted to BC, waitlisted to UVA. What I am trying to figure out is how long is the waitlist at UVA this year? I am not sure what the 18% is based on? Is it 18% of total admitted applicants or of total applicants in general?
Usually what that means is 18% of those that are eligible for a waitlist decision, which would be deferred plus regular decision. We are on the waitlist also
