oooo well don't worry! the median GPA for UVa acceptees is a 3.4, and Tech's is a 3.0

wow I can't believe its only a 3.4! I keep thinking of 3.7+ as competitive. I only have a 3.44 and now I'm feeling a little more confident.

Where'd you get those numbers from farhansfa? Is that this year?

that's for second years and associate degreers

"second-years" as in incoming sophmores...or applying AS a sophmore(for junior status)??...3.4 would suprise me (and make me happy) for incoming sophmores because I thought UVa was mush tougher on transfer applicants with less than a year of college. Anyone else checking their status every 5 min despite the fact that we might as well not check until 5pm on friday?

I think we're in for the 5:00 p.m. deal on Friday, unfortunately. Don't expect any change on your status until then.

i was talkinbout ppl transferring after their second year! if you're transferring after your freshman year, it's going to be really competetive

Well, that makes me feel better - NOT!!!

:( :( :( :(

Well thats good news for me...However, would UVa EVER accept a transfer applicant after their first year for the a-school/McIntire? It just seems like, in retrospect, applying to the a-school last year, as a freshman with one quarter of GECs under my belt, was a waste of time/money.

My only hope for this year is that 60% of the a-school applicants are first-years with weak courseloads, 20% are second-years who have little to no design work in their studies, and that I beat out the remaining 20% by virtue of my stats (even then I still have less than a 50% chance!!!!)

It'll be okay guys!!!....the point is...it's easier to get in as a transfer ANY YEAR than it is to get in right from highschool!

and i think you have a good shot at i asbuckeye....did you check out the transfer requirements for the A-school?

I wish I was black or mexican....

why do people like to talk without having facts...dang...majidso...please click on the link and see for yourself that the rate at which black and hispanic get into UVA as transfers is low and will not help you at all.

but you still can't deny the existance of affirmative action....which undoubtedly boosts any applicants chance of getting into a public school/institution...

as for "not helping at all" I find that hard to believe. The chart only states statistics based on acceptance rates but has nothing to do with performance and competitiveness of an applicant. To compare acceptance vs. performance based on that chart is confounded....I learned that when I fufilled my math requirement for admission with intro to stat.

...waiting is driving me insane

I know UVa is a big racial priority school for incoming freshmen...but if your stats are just apalling, i doubt there's any help for you :p...

Race isn't the only thing that matters....overall performance counts...

I know im taking this too far and I know this is not the platform to debate affirmative action, but take a second and condsider this....

What are your stats majidso? Mine along with most others are on the UVA transfer roster thread. If you don't feel like posting them, that's fine also.

oh by the way all Hispanics are not Mexican, I thought I'd teach you that much.

he is right....I'm witnessing an AA activist...funny..I started a thread about it in the "College Life" forum....it was going well til this moron comes in with his racist biggotry....you should read up on it if you're up for a debate.
