DAMN I WAS JUST REJECTED FROM BU!! Just happened to check my status....it wasnt up earlier today:

Dear Mr. A

Your application for admission to Boston University has received the careful consideration of the Board of Admissions. We appreciate your interest in Boston University, but I regret to inform you that you are not among those selected for admission. An unfavorable decision is never easily reached, and because the number of candidates each year always exceeds the available openings, some candidates must receive disappointing news.

A written notification of this decision will follow soon by mail. Thank you for applying to Boston University. We wish you the best of luck in your future academic pursuits.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Walter
Executive Director of Admissions

how about sexual preference as an equalizer? should the college consider that you like to play for the other team, or maybe swing both ways? if so, how many of you would actually consider using it to your advantage.

i guess i'll take a break until tomorrow 5pm. i hope we will know by then.

good luck to all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toph, christophsky, narhansfa, and katt especially as I know you have wanted this for a long time.

Yeah so... Merry Decision Day Eve, guys and gals! ;):)

Good luck to everyone! :)

On that note... I'm nervous about something else now. Well I've been nervous about it before, but the UCLA threads have reaffirmed my nervousness. After reading all those UCLA threads about people not completing the necessary courses... I'm one course short of McIntire and am taking 2-3 of the other pre-req's this semester. I did send midterms in and have A's in 2 of them. I had a B+ on the third (it's an A- now, not that that matters) which will only be important if they don't give me credit for a course from back when I was in high school. For the record, I am changing my major... was journalism up until this point, so maybe that will make me unique?

toph...my roomate, who also applied to mcIntire, called a month or two back and asked the admissions office if being short a class or two had any effect on the admissions process. The councilor said that as long as you have most of the requirements it shouldnt matter, i think they phrased it along the lines of....not haveing a class or two wont keep you from getting in.

Thanks Toph. I applied to JMU & VT, and was luckily accepted at both. Now I have one rejection from Boston University, and awaiting UVa.

hey guys they changed the application status today:

UVa College of Arts and Sciences Application Status Report
Name: .....
Account: ......
Application Fee Received: Yes
Application Fee Date: February 23, 2005

Note:
Your application status is not available at this time. Regular decision applicants were able to view their decisions from April 1-April 8. Fall transfer applicants will be able to view decisions on April 29 (evening).

Regular Decision: Temporarily unavailable due to technical maintenance
Fall Transfer: May 1

A note on the required courses for transfer students...

I am not sure about the other schools but for the a-school UVa's titles the courses requirement section: RECOMMENDED courses for Virginia community college transfers. Also when I called last year about it the woman said you should see it as more of a guideline than a checklist...I find the fact that there are 6 CH of english vs. 1 CH of calculus a bit absurd for architecture anyways.

Even though I don't meet the requirements, I have a full year of architecture classes including design studios, structural engineering, arch history and graphic design...I would think those make up for missing an english.

BTW, nebolla brings up a good point. If you are going to give preference to certain minority groups you must make sure to take EVERY minority group into consideration. I personally think AA is a ridiculous concept but what makes it less respectable is it's inconsistency.

i agree with buckeye...and good luck to everyone....and do yourself a favor and stop looking at that status screen...it seriously just makes things 10 times worse :p

Hope to see you all there next year! Each of you have an awsome chance at getting in, because I know more than one of you have better stats than mine!

Sorry, have to keep checking the status and now it changed to April 29. Guess they got tired of having so many people call them, so they decided to change it on the website.

Note:

The "u" and the "s" in "status" moved .4 cm...what could this mean???

Katt im right there with you checking every 5 min too. Have you guys ever found yourself checking at like 7-8 pm thinking to yourself "what the hell am I doing, nobody's going to be in the office...", but you still check anyways?

Tomorrow's going to be a good day either way because at least I can take that damn status page off my favorites menu!!
