More specifically than mid-February I should add
Did UVA post that your first quarter grades were received in your applicant portal or did you contact your admissions counselor? My son’s were sent in November, but aren’t showing on the portal.
Could that be because they want mid year grades not quarter grades so those don’t qualify as mid year grades?
He can upload them himself and then rhe red x should go away within a day or so. That way you know they’re definitely received. If the x hasn’t gone away by now however, that would lead me to believe what was sent was not what they were looking for.
Can anyone chance me?
New Jersey Applicant

Do I even have a shot? I feel like for out of state kids it’s so much harder.
It is hard to chance… but Virginia State schools need to take 70% of their applicants from in-state, (tied to state funding) which puts OOS students at a disadvantage. So regardless of the result, just realize it is not a reflection on your or your application, but a numbers game.
Same as @srparent15 said - my daughter uploaded her 1st semester grades and the red x went away just a short time later. Office transcript was just sent from office but I think it’s all moot as they don’t take this year’s grades into account but now all her requests show green.
Contact admissions. My DDs school is on the trimester system, and they received first trimester grades and it shows as mid term grades received.
Q1 grades aren’t checked in…mid-years are. Due to the size of our pool, our system is built to check in required items. It wouldn’t be efficient to build processes for all the optional ones.
T1 grades are midyear grades. No need to contact anyone about it. We’ll check them in when we see them.
@Dean_J Do you look at S1 / T1 / mid-year grades for EA applicants or does that come into play if deferred or RD?
Can I just say that Dean_J kicks butt! It’s awesome to have her insight.
I have a master’s degree from UVA but didn’t go to undergrad there. Does that make my child a legacy for admissions?
I think so. Check the Alumni Admissions website. I think it is a “degree holder.”
Yep. Legacy = a parent/guardian has a degree from UVA
hi everyone! is there a speculated date that we can expect decisions for?
Per Dean_J above… You can look at the archives of the admission blog to see when decisions came out for the last 10+ years. Just look at posts from January and March. That being said, I’ve been making it clear every week in my live q&a sessions that you will not see EA decisions in January. There’s just no way it can happen with the amount of work we have to do. I think I’ve also posed this before here. Hang in there! We are moving as quickly as possible.
You have an incredibly strong application on its own. I really hope they accept you. I’m so very sorry about your diagnosis- stay strong. The fact that you, in spite of a cancer diagnosis during a pandemic, organized a incredibly successful fund raiser for a noble cause leaves me in awe! You are amazing… the most impressive applicant I’ve seen on any school thread.

Any chance for a decision next Friday the 5th? Or is the 12th looking more likely?
Hey!! Does anyone think theres any chance decisions may be released late this week?? I am sure the admissions office is working around the clock to finalize decisions for us I just am getting so nervous
