UVa Early Action Applicants for the Class of 2016!

Did anybody else get the email from the “notes from the Peabody” blog about all the applicants with the missing common app parts? I laughed while reading that because it was pretty easy to sense Dean J’s frustration from all the sarcasm riddled through it hahaha

I loved how on Dean J’s twitter she addresses certain twitter bursts concerning late apps: like a good parent, she rolls her eyes and still says, ok, fine . . . submit. That attitude, and the omnipresent reader-dogs, should make everyone comfortable with UVA as their first choice. Somehow, if rejected, one would feel much more comfortable with the explanation that the application “didn’t impress the dog,” as compared to “didn’t impress the committee.” I think dogs give an enlightened and hopeful sniff to everything; committees, eh, not so much . . .

^very much agreed. UVa admissions Definitely give me the feeling of a committee that… Actually cares about all of their applicants and is much more understanding than some of the other, more staunch admin committees I’ve tried to deal with at other universities. That being said, a rejection would still be heartbreaking to me.

You seem to be subscribed by email to my blog…there aren’t too, too many who read the blog that way. I think most just go to the page to read the updates.

I’m making that note so people don’t think that I sent them something. You can subscribe yourself by email and you can unsubscribe yourself. :)

I think you’re on to something. For the last four years, there’s just been on CavDog (admittedly, I recycle puppy pictures when I deem it appropriate). Perhaps I need to petition the University to assist in my acquisition of a CavPup so we can have a little more variety. I already have a name picked out…

I got a blog comment yesterday from someone upset that we were giving a few extra hours to people who didn’t realize they had to submit each section of the app separately. It seemed a little hard line to me, but I’m going to guess that the writer is a bit more competitive than most. I believe I’m here to help people through the process, not shut them out of it.

Dean J, do you know the average number of Questbridge Finalist Applicants accepted each year?

This is only our second year with Questbridge. It’s a small number. I think we have 9 here from last year and I think we aimed for 8-10 this year. I don’t have this year’s number off the top of my head, though.

The Questbridge students have a club here. I think they call the first class the Questies. They have a name for your class, but I can’t remember it right now. :)

i wish test scores were not such a huge portion of the application process. I know they level the playing field and are very helpful…lol i just cant get the scores necessary for admittance to UVA. UVA is such an amazing school and at this point i would do anything for an acceptance letter…ughhh, if only

We don’t have a score requirement. The four years of work on the transcript take a lot more time to review than three digit numbers. :)

Dean J: Is there a place on the UVA Admissions site where one can fine the Admissions Officer for a particular State?

what will everyone do if they find out they’re in?

^^ *find, not “fine.” Although, one wonders, sometimes . . .

i will cry haha…and than call EVERYONE…and update my education to uva…then turn the music up and dance

I will Streak

I will calmly inform my parents, and then the next day when I go to school I will skip down the hallways throwing candy and singing. I will proceed to hug random people while wearing my UVA polo =D!

LOL PaperEater

Hello everyone, OOS from Illinois here. Hope to major in cognitive science and minor in bioethics or Spanish. Honestly, just typing that out makes me incredibly excited for college. God, I hope I get into UVa.

Anyway, if I got in, I would make an incredibly enthusiastic Facebook status and pretty much skip around my school for the next five months.

I freaked out when I saw the “View Decision” button, all the way back in November, haha. Now, I’m counting down the days and trying not to get myself too excited for the 31st. Because it could really be a horrible day, haha.

yeah i’ll probably cry if i get it. my friend cried last month when he got into Stanford EA, and he shamelessly admits it. I WANT TEARS OF JOY TOO!

I hope all of you who have posted receive a positive reply from UVa in the next week or two. Our D is from OOS (2nd year) and has really enjoyed everything the school has to offer. She has found it to be the perfect balance between academics and social opportunities. The tradition and school spirit are unparalleled, and so far she hasn’t ever regretted her decision to attend UVa over her other options. I wish you all the best! :)

2! Days left!!! Soooo nervous

I applied!
