UVa Early Action Applicants for the Class of 2016!

I would add on that note that of the students I know last year that were not offered admission and vowed to seek a transfer after their first year elsewhere, only one student eventually decided to do so. The rest went on to other excellent universities and now could not imagine being anywhere else. They are settled and very happy in their university communities. It does happen the vast majority of the time. Best of luck to all UVa hopefuls tomorrow!

I’m sure you guys would be interested in reading this UVa Press Release.

[U.Va</a>. Offers Admission to 3,187 Early Applicants in Record Pool](http://www.virginia.edu/uvatoday/newsRelease.php?id=17093)

soo approximately a 25% of early action was accepted. I wish they said how many out of state versus instate… But thanks for the article…

Apparently, 28,239 applied to UVa this year (both early action + regular), which is 18% higher than last year. It seems UVa students are getting stronger & stronger every year.

4530 applicants to SEAS? is this just for early action or total (early + regular) applicants

GUYS IM SO SCARED HOLY LORD. that statistic scared me even more thanks.

This is the total EA & RD as they go on to say 4530 is a “23 percent jump over a year ago”. If they were not combining the two and looking at the total number of applicants they could not make that comparison as last year UVa did not have EA, only RD.

That post says "Overall, the target enrollment for the Class of 2016 is 3,360 students. "

If 3,187 got accepted from Early Action, does that mean only 173 will be accepted using Regular Decision?

not at all hahaha… you have to consider those silly people who turn down their acceptance!

fireshot - You are forgetting about yield…

they’ll probably accept another 3000+ to get their expected class size

Ah, yes. My mistake :p.

Okay, so fine, I’m assuming here. 50% decide to go to UVA from Early Action. That’s 1594 people that go from Early Action. About 1760 for Regular Decision, then?

I’m also pretty sure my assumption of 50% yield is extremely low (?).

virginia is not even 50%. probably mid to high 30’s.

My mistake. UVA has a yield of 48.3%

i was wondering, are the average sat scores posted on the article tend to be lower for those who are in-state?

Tomorrow ea acceptances posted online!

Only 21 more hours to go… This is so nerve-wrecking.

I still don’t get why they can’t release them when they are done. This afternoon’s press release says they have finalized everything so why not put them online starting this afternoon. I also found it interesting that as soon as UVA announced they would be releasing the decisions at the end of the week, UNC sent their letters out to EA applicants from VA (hoping to get a leg up on the competition maybe??)

Very discouraging figures for an oos applicant

Though everything was finalized earlier this week, it is traditional for UVA to release on a Friday. Most schools choose Fridays for notification because it gives applicants the weekend to cool off and will reduce the amount of calls and emails sent to the admissions office the next day.
