Just looking for a few fellow UVa early action applicants to the class of 2017 to chat with about upcoming acceptance!

What are some of your stats/predictions about your decision?

Heyya!

I’m applying early to uva (oos), umich (oos), umd (in-state), and princeton (scea).

I’m really hoping for an acceptance but I wouldn’t be surprised by a deferral.

Stats:

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.7 weighted
Class Rank: 1 unweighted, 5 weighted out of nearly 300.
SAT: 2270, 760m 760w (11 essay) 750cr
SAT2: 800 math 2, 720 bio m, and just retook a 670 physics today (only sending to princeton as its required for engineering)
AP: world (5), bio (5), calc ab/bc (5,5), language and comp and physics this year. And calc 3… But that’s not ap.
Most rigorous schedule

Hopefully great recs (I didn’t see them)
Great essays, and agreed, everyone thinks they have great essays so hopefully mine are actually great… lol

Senior schedule:
Intern at the National Cancer Institute for two blocks both semesters
Ap comp, calc 3, ap physics(yearlong)

Work/volunteer/ecs:

-Intern at the national cancer institute (full time over the summer, 3 hrs volunteer during the year): researching a recently discovered protein that could be involved in the export of retroviral mRNA.
-Wounded Warriors Project: volunteer adaptive ski instructor (wrote my common app influential essay about a marine I taught), numerous other fundraisers and volunteer work. I base my goals of becoming a biomedical engineer focusing on the development of prosthetics on my experiences with wounded warriors.
-Varsity Dance team: co-captain, choreographer. Placed in regional competitions, going to nationals in disney!!! =D
-Pre-professional Dance company: 9-10
-Serious but not competitive skier (I will race in college when my mom can’t stop me)
-Guitar=)
-Peer Minister at Church
-these are the main passions I placed emphasis on in my apps, I have a few other minor ecs like SGA and piano but I didn’t heavily emphasize them.

Good luck everyone! Where else are you applying? (Early and regular?)

Oops! Forgot senior schedule:

AP Spanish, AP Literature, AP Chem, AP Calc BC, AP Macro…then gym and two business electives to fill open spaces (didn’t think about the fact that this only lowers my W GPA

Anyway…I’m actually only applying to UVa (reach) & Clemson (I can probably get merit scholarships there)!! As my username may suggest…I dream of being in the south and fell in love with UVa and also with Clemson! I will also most likely apply to Calhoun Honors College at Clemson (:

Well. I guess that this thread died or something. Anyway I was accepted into UVa!!! CONGRATS TO ALL WHO GOT ACCEPTED :)

penguin 20, what were your stats if you don’t mind me asking

accepted!! not my first choice, but an amazing school, i am so excited! congrats to everyone :)

Accepted!
2040 sat 4.14 gpa in state
Highly competitive school; class rank 31/425

@cubanita, what’s your first choice, if you don’t mind sharing that? Just curious what other schools UVA EA admitted students are considering.

Accepted!!! Got 2040 SAT: 800 CR, 580 M, 660 W. 3.8 GPA

Wait how do you know?? We’re the results posted!?!?!?!

Yes, log into your SIS account. Decisions were posted as of 5 PM EST.

Thanks!! Deferred, but my BFF was accepted so that makes me happy anyways  but my boyfriend got deferred as well… I’m surprised they didn’t send an email or anything. Glad I stumbled upon this thread at the perfect time!

how does the midyear report work with accepted applicants? does anyone ever have an admission rescinded?

You could definitely get your acceptance revoked. I don’t think they’ll do it because if a midyear report, but maybe the final transcript with your senior grades on it.

Deferred. Oh well, not interested in attending anyway. Not a big fan of the South.

accepted!
that relieves a lot of pressure for upcoming RD notifications :)

accepted! Wahoowa!!

Accepted out of state! So humbled. I wasn’t expecting to hear back so soon. Thank God for dean J

Accepted out of state (I think I can be considered an international applicant because even though I’m a US citizen, I’ve been living in India for quite sometime now).
SAT score - 2250, IB Predicted score >40.
I’m so happy!!! It’s my first acceptance and I simply cannot wait for my next decision (that is probably coming out next week).

A quick review of the decisions thread shows that only 5 out of 21 accepted students who posted had an SAT score below a 2200 (or its ACT equivalent). Now, there’s obviously some selection bias here on CC, this is a small sample size to draw conclusions from, and the EA pool is stronger than the RD pool, but admission to UVA feels a lot more competitive than a few years ago when some of my friends applied.

I’m interested in seeing the mean accepted SAT score tomorrow. I have a feeling it will be higher than last year’s mean SAT score of 1395 (math + CR).

Congrats again to everyone accepted! It’s really amazing that we’ve made it this far  wahoowa!
