OOS (NC) Twin A- Accepted. 1510 SAT, 35 ACT, 4.0/5-08 UW/W GPA. 8 AP (7 5s, 1 4(US History), Taking 5 APs this year.

OOS (NC) Twin B- Deferred. 1490 SAT, 33 ACT, 3.8/4.8 UW/W GPA, 8 APs (5 5s, 3 4s), Taking 3 APs this year.

I posted earlier my D was accepted OOS but forgot to say North Carolina. Anyone else from North Carolina get in?

OOS Accepted!!

4.0 gpa, 1530 SAT and perfect score subject tests. Not too many ecs but super deep involvement in those that I do have. 9 total AP courses once I graduate.

Anyone able to find the in-state/out-of-state acceptance rates for the EA round this year?

Accepted. Son, international. He’s so excited. 1520 SAT, 35 ACT and all 5s on five AP exams. Pretty good leadership EC. Good luck to all.

Son accepted. In state, Northern VA. 4.4 weighted.School does not rank. 34 ACT. 13 APs. Great EC. Good luck to everyone.

DD denied, In state, 30 ACT and 92 gpa rigorous prep school, lots of ECs, great essays. We knew it was a long shot and she didn’t want to go if accepted but would have liked to have said she got in! Congrats to all accepted!!!

Denied OOS- 98.9 gpa, rank 4/500, varsity golf, fencing and science bowl captain

Guys UVA is really truly a holistic school. I really doubted that I would have gotten in only with a 30/31 on my ACT but it was possible. Really good luck and good job to all of you

My OOS daughter was accepted with a 33ACT, 5.08WGPA (~3.8UWGPA). White female, legacy. Two years ago my older daughter with a 31 ACT and 4.9WGPA (~3.7UWGPA) was deferred and then wait listed (she dropped from the list).

To me that means the legacy boost helps a little. I don’t think it’s such a boost that OOS legacies have the same odds as in state though.

@devilstick not sure what you mean about legacy boost helps a little? I definitely think it helps. It isn’t just based on test scores and gpa though, and the 31 ACT is defintely on the lower side. it isn’t going to take a candiate that isn’t competitive and make them competitive. I think you already have to be competitive to begin with.

Denied OOS (California), ACT 31 (32 ss), WGPA 4.218, UWGPA 3.781 6 APs, many ECs, top 20% of class (only ranks by 10%s so I am really in the top 15%, quite large and competitive school)

@LvMyKids2 the belief used to be that legacy meant being evaluated as if you were in state. Which based on comparisons with children of other UVA alums is clearly not the case. You need to be at least reasonably competitive with other out of state applicants.

I offer this data so legacies (and their parents) have a more accurate picture. Take it for what you will.

Accepted! 4.15 WGA 34 ACT (out of state). Congrats to everyone!!! Does anyone know what is the official FB group?

Deferred, OOS, 3.8 uwgpa, 1400 SAT, many ECs (Senate intern, Varsity Captain, School Ambassador), URM (African/Native-American and Mexican) but not low-income, 1st-Generation so no legacy anywhere for me, unfortunately. UVA was my dream school even though I knew it would be ambitious OOS. I had to at least try, right? I’ve been blessed with many great acceptances to some great schools and I’m honored they even considered me. Good luck to all of you, and congrats to all accepted.

S Accepted OOS. SAT 1540.

Daughter accepted. In state:

  • 1430 SAT (720/710): 4.34 GPA W, top 10% ranking; 10 APs
  • AP Scholar w/ Distinction (all 5s and 4s)
  • NHS, FCA Leader, President of French Club
  • Did Gov School last Summer - hook IMO
  • Mission Trip and Foreign Exchange Int’l Trips
  • Varsity Field hockey co-captain
  • No idea how essays or letters of recc stacked up
(Very grateful; incredibly talented pool of applicants)

@MayBlvyMomma, We are from NC! Charlotte

deferred in state NOVA…
1500 SAT 33 ACT 4.12 GPA no ranking
tons of extracurriculars and even prestigious gov school attendee but i guess that didn’t help… oh well

DD accepted OOS engineering. ACT 35, UWGPA 4.0 - honors/AP curriculum. Signed NLI, did not use athletic admission slot but had a positive academic pre-read for the coach. 9 season captain, All-American athlete, strong music and art. Definitely feels fortunate to get the acceptance.
