UVA Early Action Applicants Thread

@heidilol Havent heard anything yet.

@rayosunshyne are you sure that you were told you didn’t have to submit the CSS profile? From the webpage

Eligible students who wish to be considered for all types of need-based state and institutional financial aid for the 2018-2019 academic year must complete and submit the 2018-2019 CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (Profile) and 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2018.

We are still waiting too, but had to upload docs this week. Make sure you have actually applied for aid and don’t have anything left to be done on your SIS checklist

@RelocatedYankee my S also had 4k of work study, he’s graduating this May. He interviewed at the book store and wanted to work in a dining hall or for mail services. He was turned down at the book store and didn’t have a chance to apply for those other options because he got a job working on his computer (non work study job). End of his second year, he got a work study position doing research in a lab at SEAS in his field chemical engineering. He still has that position. There are interesting work study jobs at UVa. You may not get the first thing you apply for and you may have to wait a year or two (in a less interesting job) to eventually get something interesting.

There’s a DOTL info post up on the blog this morning.

Student Financial Services at UVA requires the CSS Profile. They also have a “to do” list in SIS just like we do. When they need you to submit documentation, they put it on your to do list.

Please see the “How to apply for aid” page on the UVA website: http://sfs.virginia.edu/new/undergrad/2019

How do I view the financial aid on sis if it says “inquiry access denied” ???

can i send in some activity updates since i was deferred? i am confused because the FAQ page says you can’t edit your essays or application but my college advisor told me to send in a letter. i did a lot first semester that would have made it into my RD app but not EA so i would love to update it, but i am confused. i think my college advisor has been in contact with our regional rep and she is expecting a letter from me, but now the FAQ page has me confused

The FAQ page does make it sound like they do not want anything from anyone, no matter how interesting the senior year accomplishments are.

I see in my USPS preview that my D is expecting a letter from “office of the president.” We get our mail late, so I was just curious if anyone knows what that could be. I’m assuming another congratulatory letter. Maybe others have already received it. Thanks

Yes, just a letter saying congratulations blah blah please come here. Got that today.

I figured, thanks.

Hey everyone! I didn’t know that all the forms and everything were due January 1st because my application portal said to submit by February 22nd for some reason. So I submitted everything yesterday lol. Do you think they’ll grant me less aid/scholarships because of this? And when might my financial aid information be coming out? Thanks and congrats to everyone!!

@keepthegoodones you are fine. The Jan. 1 date was to receive award info with EA decision. It shouldn’t impact financial aid packages which are separate from merit scholarships (which are far and few).just keep checking your portal periodically to see if anything pops up on your to do list, including your certification. No idea how long it will take to process. We are still waiting too.

Thank you! Good luck to your family(:

If an admitted student has not yet heard from the Echols Scholars program, does that mean the student has definitely not been named an ES, and definitely will not be? Or is it still possible that EA students could be Echols Scholars as first-years? (I fear this sounds obsessive, but it can make a big difference in terms of school choice.)

Any Jefferson Scholar at large referrals yet?

I did! OOS. Very nervous.

This is last year’s thread lol.
Maybe we can start a new one for class 2023

Yes, please do. I’m surprised there isn’t one already. My son applied EA OOS.

guys I got an email about setting up SIS but “identity.virginia.edu” to create a password isn’t working. y’all experiencing the same thing?
