UVA Early Action Applicants Thread

I have" accept or decline financial aid" but not admission.

Click on the “view decision” link, then look at the name of the actual page tab in the top corner of your web browser. That’s what they’re referring to.

Does everyone else’s tab say it too? It’s the PAGE TAB in the top corner of your browser once you click on “view decision”. The tab where you can X out the window.

A few years ago my son was accepted and as soon as he hit the accept button the page with the acceptance goes away, so if it’s the same this year you should screen shot the page, he got a formal letter in the mail a few days later, good luck to everyone!

Oh Twitter and Facebook both have class of 2022 up, but no students linked yet, so D day must be very soon!!!

The “accept/decline admission” on the tab means absolutely nothing. That’s simply what UVA decided to name the webpage, and it’s not specific to your decision (obviously, as they haven’t even been posted.)

Ochillith is right. I just checked a 2020 thread and Dean J confirmed it’s an SIS quirk.

Folks, we’re all guessing and hoping right now. We all know that there are five possible days and precedence tells us that the Dean prefers certain days.

All the talk about SIS has been addressed on the blog lots of times over the years. Please do a search! http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/

I don’t know what @lovewinter’s comment means. We create Facebook pages for the classes years in advance.

Five days or six?

Or, which of the next six weekdays (including today) is not possible?

It’s probably time for me to step away from College Confidential until after decision day. My posts don’t have hidden meaning. I’m trying to calm you down and perhaps my presence is just making some more wound up. I’m sorry about that.

Please do searches on the blog for SIS questions. I’ve addressed the look and function of the system a lot over the years.

The reality is if UVa wasn’t such an top notch fantastic school so many people wouldn’t be trying to guess the notification date, best to all. UVA alumni mom!

^Seconded

@“Dean J” If my mid-year grades were submitted on the 13th, is there a chance they were used in my EA application?

@jacob117 It is not happening today, we know they don’t release on Saturdays or Sundays so there are 5 days left 25,26,29,30,31. In the last for years the decisions have come out on the following days:

Wednesday Jan 25th 2017
Thursday Jan 21st 2016
Friday Jan 23 2015
Friday Jan 17th 2014.

So reading between the lines of DeanJ comment about precedence showing that the Dean prefers certain days it is either going to be Thursday Jan 25, Friday Jan 26 or god forbid Wednesday Jan 31.

@“Dean J” If you step off CC you will be leaving a huge vacuum that only gets filled by anxiety, speculation, and rumor. Don’t abandon us!!

I would prefer @Dean J to spend her time reading the last few applications. May all the admissions staff drink a lot of very strong coffee and power through!

@burghdad Just a quip - notice all those 4 past dates are odd numbers : p

We’ve been fortunate that Dean J has dropped in so often on UVA threads. But badgering her about dates/times when she and others are trying to wrap up admission decisions and when she’s already said she’ll post on her blog when there’s something definitive strikes me as very bad form.

My daughter turned in her paperwork weeks ahead for the early action deadline but her (awful!) college counselor did not get her letter in on time. Does anyone know if she will be still considered early action or not?
