jamesjunkers - Exactly. Dean J seems to be trying to be the “cool” “hipster” Dean who hangs out with the kids on Social Media. Not sure that is needed. These boards are for students, parents, etc to post. Having a Dean roam through the boards - correcting perceived mistakes, or slights - seems to be an attempt to make sure her school is always put in the best light. No school is always in the best light - nor should they strive to be. Controversy is part of the collegiate environment - that applies to these boards. Silence can indeed be golden.
Dean J’s tweet is vague – a bit of a teaser. I wish we can get an official answer that it’s NOT going to be today so we can all sign off and look forward to next Friday!
In 2012 Dean J posted on Tuesday, Jan 17 that decisions would be up on on Friday, Jan 20! Hopefully that will be the case, but will make for a very very long week!!! On another note, one year she updated her blog as late as 3PM that decisions were coming out that day. I guess 4PM is pushing it for today, but she did say it’s a quick “click of a button” to release them. It’s anxiety provoking but at the same time I love the guessing game.
I’m on the edge of my seat and the SIS doesnt make it better. Everytime I log in and see “View Decision” my heart sinks a little to only be told to wait until the 31st. I still have the same reaction everytime.
Guys, I’d really stop hoping for today, it’s really not happening. What annoys me is that clearly Dean J knew they weren’t going to be ready… I don’t see any possibility of her thinking they were gonna be done if she’s tweeting there’s still a ways to go… So why couldn’t she tell us?
Does anyone think that it will be still released today?
You all need to relax. Complaining, asking when everything will be released, calling the UVA admissions office, and overall asking the same question multiple times will not make the decisions come any faster. This is the reason why I would never tell anyone I use college confidential because there is a stereotype that exists on this forum that is completely true. I’m sorry but this thread is getting ridiculous, some of you truly are the reason why college confidential gets such a bad rap. The decisions will come when they come.
I appreciate all Dean J’s communication. As badly as I want results, I’d rather an AdCom notice that the classes on my transcript are rigorous and correspond to AP level. What if I wasn’t admitted and it was because someone rushed over my application? chill people. I still might not get offered a place but I feel I have a better chance if Adcoms take their time and job seriously.

I definitely do not agree with the people complaining about Dean J’s role in social media.

@Undercoolr it looks like mine changed slightly. How has your changed?
The “To Do” section on the right. It changed from allowing me to click on it and it showed needing midterm grades, status “initiated” and now shows “No To Do’s” and I can’t click on it.
I think it has financial links on the left now but I could be wrong. It may have been there and didn’t notice it.
How did yours change?
I still have the MY grades on my to do list (just chiming in)
My SIS was showing mid year grades due but now it shows none as well.
Just rechecked because I was worried, and I can confirm that mine does still say MY grades on the to do list on the right sidebar
@jamesjunkers I wonder why your TO DO, shows My grades. Is that mid year grades do you think?
Also still have my mid year grades under my to do list. Doesn’t seem to mean anything guys, they;re probably just tinkering with technology and things. Never try to decipher the little things on student accounts. Sometimes changes mean things, but a lot of the time they don’t.

Let’s all just remember that the notification coming out early is a privilege. It is not something that we should feel entitled to. UVA says they’ll notify by Jan. 31 so just wait for Jan. 31 instead of feeling disappointed, or feeling the need to say things against Dean J’s work. Dean J works hard to encourage us, keep us updated, and stay lighthearted through it all. She does a wonderful job at her job and I doubt that she gets paid extra to update her Instagram, Twitter, or Blog. If you don’t appreciate her work, then you don’t have to read her posts. And honestly, she really isn’t that vague; if she says “probably not tomorrow,” it’s quite likely that she means “probably not tomorrow.”
We are all in this waiting game together! Instead of asking “when?!?!?” (adding to the 10 other people who feel the need to ask every day,) say “thank you!”
We are all anxious! Just wait it out. Take your mind off of it. Watch a movie instead of checking her Twitter/Blog/Instagram/this CC thread/your SIS account every 30 minutes. (because I know that many of us do!)
