EA gang, let’s get this bread
(Also does anyone know when EA decisions are released?)
@jdecker9 This is an FAQ on the website. You can also look at release dates for the last decade on the blog.
@“Dean J” Oh just saw it, thanks for the info!
It’s not very easy to quickly find the info Dean J mentions. If you don’t know exactly where to look, you will be hunting all over the wesbite. Here’s a cut and paste of the info:
WHEN WILL I GET AN ADMISSION DECISION?
Early Action applicants can expect decisions to be posted by the end of January. Regular Decision applicants can expect decisions by the end of March. Keep an eye on the admission blog for updates!
And not everyone knows where to find the referenced blog, so perhaps posting links to whatever is mentioned would be helpful.
I have always found it better to tell students how to find information than to spoon feed it to them here. I never considered our website and the admission blog to be obscure. The analytics show they have heavy traffic and a lot of people find specific pages within each because they google.
On the application page my residency status is still under review and I am from Virginia. Should I email about it or wait?
@potatoepotatoe thank you for starting this thread. My S applied OOS.
hi i applied OOS too for the public policy school
@testlacker that’s what my son applied for as well.
Really wish we would get decisions before normal decision deadlines so I knew if I had to apply to more schools or not
I applied for CAS for business!! In-state (sorta)!
Did any of u get an IDOC document request from UVA? I was told to update my student W-2 form and Form 1099
Yes, anxiously awaiting EA decision. Understand that applications for EA are up 16% & 29K applications were received. Have faith & patience. I am confident that all UVA admissions Officers are working like Santa’s elves to get through these applications. Hope they have time for some egg nog!
UVA received just under 25K EA applications this year. I wonder how many applicants were accepted at ED schools and have pulled their apps?
In past years, decisions have come out about a week before Feb. 1. This year, with the increase, it may be right at 1/31.
REA are still in play but ED that were accepted will be withdrawn. I know my daughter’s best friend got into Princeton so she withdrew her UVa app - tnere’s One spot?
was deferred ED from penn and ea from uchicago. hoping for an acceptance come this January…
Can we give some stats here:
GPA: 4.0 W
SAT: 1530 Superscore
Residency: OOS
EC’s: County Youth Council Member, Yout Leadership Alumni, Formed a Band
Applied for : Computer Science
What are the chances?
Remember that a GPA is meaningless without a lot of context. Context that no one ever posts on these boards.

She attends a very competitive high school. The kids ranked ahead of her attend Governor’s School and the classes they take there are weighted more heavily. She was selected as Senior of the Month for November.
She is nervous. Most of her friends have already received acceptance letters from at least one school. She did not apply early decision to any, so has yet to hear from any. She is the youngest of 7 and I can tell you that the waiting is the hardest part. Good luck to everyone who applied and good luck to the parents waiting it out ?
