@Eager2019, So you can relax this weekend, perhaps you should plan to check the portal on February 1 when you know a decision will be there.

First time poster. I’ve been lurking for a while. DS is an applicant and we are looking forward to a decision. Just one observation I would make is that I think it is unusual for an admissions officer to engage on a forum with applicants. While it is nice to have her updates, my one comment would be that I would prefer that admissions officers spend less time on college confidential and more time on finishing up the admissions process. Just my two cents!!
Forums WITHOUT a college rep checking in and making comments always WISH for a college rep to step in and make some comments. We are lucky Dean J is here.
Personally, I think Dean J gives great updates and information for applicants. Thank you Dean J for all of the updates throughout this process. They have all been incredibly helpful
Dean J provides a tremendous service and much transparency to the process that applicants at other schools would really appreciate. She goes above and beyond to keep people informed and think I echo many people’s appreciation.
Does anyone else think Eager2019 and greatstats is the same person? Best of luck to everyone.
While I know Dean J is a consummate professional and certainly doesn’t need anyone to stick-up for her, this comment floored me.
Dean J engages with applicants and parents so that an opaque, stressful process can become less so.
I assume that interacting with applicants is (mostly) enjoyable for her too, reignites her passion and reduces her stress during a super focused half-year admission process.
I hope YOU don’t take any social media breaks during your school / work. Else that statement might be a bit hypocritical.

Firstly, I am not greatstats, infact I appreciate the time Deal J takes to relieve the stress at times like this. I have also mentioned this in earlier posts. I would never post a personal remark like that.
I am only expressing my opinion towards UVA’s decision declaration policy.
It is perfectly fine if some agree and some don’t. In fact, in my posts I don’t even address Dean J or ask for her feedback.
She is just doing her job and again she is giving out as much information as she is supposed to give out to keep students.

Yes portal on ours only shows the header - not the checklists. Whether they release today or not - they appear to be at the stage of loading portal changes. If you go by past history - if it is going to release today I would think a 3pm announcement for a 5pm release (3pm as they don’t like kids hearing they are coming out while in school - and 5pm release as it supposedly overwhelms their servers when everyone checks at once - so they like do to after hours)
My portal is still normal as well, but they’re probably prepping the portal for decisions which is a good sign
I’d still put money on them releasing next week though

My son’s portal is also stripped down & no longer shows what’s been received or anything!
School and status has been posted for quite some time…
At least on my daughter’s portal is has been.
And her portal looks normal right now, with everything showing that has been showing.
hopefully mine will be updated later! 1520 SAT and top 10%, kind of hoping i at least get a deferral haha
