Any thoughts of when UVA will release the ED admits?
It would be great to know as early as possible but I feel like we’ll find out on the 15th! And if it comes earlier, it’ll be a nice (or terrible!) surprise! I’m in the same boat as you! Good luck!
Is it by the 15th or on the 15th? The day is a Sunday, so I wonder how they would notify us on a Sunday unless they have timed releases. Anyway, it’s just about playing the waiting game either way.
According to the Dean J blog, it’s by the 15th. Here’s a quote I found from one of the articles:
“ED should be complete by mid-December. We have always released early when it was possible.”
It would be great to find out early, but I imagine it takes forever to read through all those applications!
Love Dean J and her blog. I know she will tweet when they do. Was just hoping they would release early.
They just announced-- releasing this Friday evening, the 6th! I guess they thought Friday the 13th wasn’t such a good day for it…
We aren’t superstitious. We always release early, if it’s possible.
I just saw this and I’m slightly hyperventilating but good luck to everyone! No matter what, we’ll all go to great places next year! Thank you so much Dean J, you’re the best!
I think @“Dean J” and her staff must be putting in overtime to get decisions finalized and still get to Charlotte Saturday. Go Hoos!
There are too many files to read to take any break.
But if someone would gift us those $150 tickets, transportation, and hotels, we might figure out a way to swing it.
@“Dean J” any chance the pushed up ED release date will move up the Ea release??
ED released and not even a post…interesting. Dean J posted stats as follows:
2,159 apps
748 total acceptances
466/1175 IS (40% acceptance rate)
282/994 OOS (28% acceptance rate)
Denied…17yo Son applied ED OOS for Nursing program and didn’t make the cut. Thought he had a strong application, but obviously not strong enough. Visited campus back in September and liked it so much he listed it as his top choice for his NROTC Nurse Option Scholarship!! Oh well… Listened to the admissions talk about the “Holistic” review process and how one of the toughest parts of the process is trying to determine how kids will “project” as students in College. Well, here was a kid who spent 6 weeks this past Summer at WashU in St.Louis studying in a 300 level Anatomy and Physiology class with lecture and full lab and walked away with an A-, 5 credits, and a 3.70 gpa lol…I’m guessing he’s ready for College. Just not at UVA
I’m so sorry dvckennyd, you must be disappointed. The one factor you must hold close is that nursing is one of the most competitive degrees right now - and with stats that would “walk into” the school, just may not be enough for nursing. There are so few seats, the classes are fixed in #, and it really is a lottery. Think about the math and you realize that great stats and experiences are just not enough. My DD had 34 ACT, 3.8 GPA (3.9 UW junior-senior yr) qualified state EMT, interned at Doctors office, strong science APs - and denied UVA. But blissfully happy at U Miami - perfect fit and wonderful school of nursing. He will find his way.
Thanks for the comments and words of encouragement GB…Appreciate them. I know he will be fine and will thrive no matter where he ends up! He has several other “birds in the hand” already, so everything will work out in the end…Onward and upward as they say! Ironic part is that, as a candidate for a US Naval ROTC scholarship, he would have been basically a full tuition paid gimme’ for them… Good luck to your DD!!
UVA notified my daughter on Dec 6th of her acceptance.
One frequently overlooked school with an exceptional nursing program is George Mason University, which is located in Fairfax County just outside Washington, DC. I have a daughter in the program, and I can tell you first hand that she is learning so much. She passed on UVA. My other daughter is headed to UVA in the fall, but not for nursing.
Hi Folks…im a junior Applying ED next year. Trying to determine where i stand. Could you tell me your GPA/SAT/ACT and if accepted or waitlisted at ED UVA 2024? That would give me a good idea. Thank you
Hey @rvgros222, I was accepted ED last week! I’m a white girl from Virginia so this is instate. I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences with my interested major being anthropology with hopes of applying to med school. My stats below:
SAT: 1530, 740 r/w and 790 math
GPA: 4.0 uw, 4.28 weighted (on track to be 4.5 by end of senior year)
AP scores: 5s in AP Lit and AP world, 4s in AP Physics and AP US History (taking 5 APs senior year, my school limits how many you can take the first 2 years)
SAT Subject: 760 on Lit
I also had subjective stuff in my app like a bit over 300 volunteer hours (most from hospital) and EIC of journalism program. During the summer before Junior year I went to Gov school for Latin and the summer before senior year I volunteered a lot at the hospital while helping them make a newsletter for the volunteers and staff!
Regardless of whatever you do, it will all work out somehow! Good luck with your application!
Hey @rvgros222, I posted a reply to this question on the UVA Waitlist - Class of 2023 thread
