I really hope my low SAT score won't kill me, and I also got a 2 on the AP US Hist exam =*-(. I didn't send it....
I hope my 4/5 years of soccer, X-Country, and Band will get me in. Band seems to be growing like a "vegetable garden" at UVA! I also got all As this 6 weeks, and I believe that will go out to the office.
Please tell me my chances if I go early to the engineering school, any suggestions?
I plan on writing my essay on diversity as a lone filipino in this area and my ability of magic unlocking the boxes of astonishment.
If I get deferred I plan to apply to UC-Berk. Any other suggestions for colleges?

Well, your SAT score is kind of low even for in-state, but all is not lost. I know UVa really looks at the whole student rather than just raw scores alone. It seems like you've taken the hardest courses at your high school, and you have good grades. I think you still have a chance at getting into UVa, but you should try retaking the SATs and write really killer essays.

The bad news is your low SAT will definitely hurt your application to UC Berkeley, especially as an out-of-state applicant. At the California schools, raw scores are more scrutinized. As a safety, apply to the engineering schools at Virginia Tech and VCU. You'll probably get in.

I think you have a decent shot ED at the SEAS. Being from SW VA will definitely help (not exactly the most represented region at UVA) as will applying to SEAS. Do this: google "uva office of institutional assessment". Once you find that, you can look around a little and find the acceptance rate at UVA by school...and at SEAS it's about 60%.

Wake is very popular among people who are around the UVA-level, as you definitely are.

The SAT's are a bit low, but being in-state, from SW VA no less, will help. I'd say you're better than 50/50 to get in... your class rank is solid.

An interview will help if you have other traits beyond your intelligence that you'd like to convey (sense of humor, good people skills, etc). Otherwise, let your stats and essays speak for themselves.

Flip, I know someone from Virginia get into UVA with a 1260, so low scores aren't anything to become completely worried about. I know for sure that GPA means the most.
