When they ask you to create an invention or engineering project for a family member or friend, how “realistic” does it have to be? Can it be large scale, or should it be specific to only that persons ailments? For example, if I wanted to help a (semi) blind friend, would it ok to write an essay in which a project could be created that could help blind people around the world? Or would they want something specific such as my friend has trouble finding chairs so a remote controlled chair for him or something like that?
We limit the scope to a family member or friend on purpose. For years, we didn’t do that and people were telling us they’d put a solar panel on every home or purify allllll the water. Great aspirations, but not realistic.
