UVA Engineering

How difficult is it to get into U.Va School of Engineering?
I have been doing a little research... and I'm getting flip flop answers... some say it's easier to get into than the "regular" school... meaning Arts & Science, and others say it's harder.

Opinions? Experience? Answers?
Thanks a lot guys!

& Good luck to all 2010 Seniors!!!

enjoy.

Despite the higher acceptance rates for Engineering versus the school in general, several other factors must be taken into account. For example, it is possible that the better students that apply to UVA tend to apply to Engineering. Not sure if this is true, but if it were, it could skew the data.

The same site has SAT data by college. For the 2009 matriculants, the mean SAT was 1367 for engineering versus 1319 for arts and science. See

Even that only tells about the “average” student. It does not tell us what the “marginal” student (the last one accepted) looks like. Grades, exrtracurriculars and letters make a difference, too.
