Is it a problem if i still haven’t received an email for an SIS? I just got an email about myUVA or something like that
I only received an email about myUVA too. I was able to use my old login information from when I applied my senior year of high school for SIS. I really doubt admissions has had time to go through and update every applicant’s SIS though. I suggest emailing admissions if you have any questions!
Hey all, The SIS email is automatically sent a few days after your application is downloaded and put into our system. If you can’t find it, [you can create new login credentials on the SIS homepage](https://sisuva.admin.virginia.edu/psp/epprd/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=PAPP_GUEST#redirected).
There was a period during which one major email provider was treating all virginia.edu email as spam and that might have caused some problems.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for a UVa transfer thread to emerge for months! I’m applying as a second year transfer from an OOS state school…nervous almost doesn’t even describe how anxious about decisions I feel.

One downfall just took the SAT for the first time ever(last one before they switched to new one) and scored an abysmal 1350 overall!
Good luck to everyone!!!
Just toured UVA for the 2nd time. While I was driving to Charlottesville from Virginia Beach I listened to Jefferson’s “The Art of Power”. Its an audio book biography about Jefferson’s life. I found myself in amazement as I was driving through places where Jefferson’s amazing mind use to be. TJ is one of the biggest reasons why I would like to attend UVA. To be able to study on grounds in his vision would be an honor and a once in a lifetime experience!
@SamoyedScience i am! i’m applying to transfer in as a second year
Freshman at a TN state school, GPA: 4.0. HS GPA: 3.6ish unweighted/over a 4.1 weighted. ACT: 31
ECS: NAACP, executive board member. Honors Student Council, freshman rep. I work/volunteer as a bookstore clerk every week, tutor students in English, and am in a service club. I did a lot of ECs in high school as well.
Hey I’m also applying as a 2nd year transfer, good luck to you!
Since everyone else is posting their stats, I guess I will too. It’s always nice to have an idea of who you’re in the same pool with.
Freshman at Virginia Tech (got deferred, then rejected last year)
VA resident, UVA legacy, female
College GPA: 4.0 (15 credits last semester and 17 credits this semester)
High School GPA: ~3.8, unsure because my high school did not calculate GPAs, it was also in one of the top 20 private schools in the US
SAT: 1220/1600 (regret not taking prep courses for it junior/senior year)
ECs: student pilot, research, Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-health honor society), cartoonist (I would say for what but that would easily let people find my real identity), volunteer work, Da Vinci Living Learning Community
Recommendations: all good, one from my AP bio HS teacher, one from my bio professor at VT, and one from a VT research professor who I fly with occasionally (we trained at the same airport)
Essays: good in my opinion
On a last note I tweeted Dean J a while ago asking how 1st year admission compares to transfer admission in her opinion, she replied with “First year admission is more competitive than transfer admission. Not an opinion, that’s a fact.” Good luck to everyone, and if this is your second/ third time applying, I hope that this cycle is the one for you!
@SamoyedScience what college are you apply to, arts and science?
Yep! I’m guessing that you are too?
Yes! I’m to went to a private school in Virginia as well, small world!
I actually went to high school in CT, but hey yeah small world: both VT freshman haha applying as transfers. Anyway, good luck to ya!
@SamoyedScience @hooville17 Hi other VT freshman, I too am applying to the college of arts and sciences!
So here goes nothing with stats…
Freshman at VT, I too was deferred and then ultimately denied
College GPA: 4.00 Majoring in biology
High School GPA: 4.13 i think or something close to that
SAT: 1380/1600
EC’s: COINS- commodity investment club actively trading over $1,000,000
Ultra Running Club @ vt
Some volunteer work
myriad of other things
I submitted a recommendation from one of biology professors, but I didn’t even think about asking a high school teacher, sorta wish I had. That’s about it, I’d say my essays were pretty good and hopefully I had some unique aspects to my resume. But with that said, good luck to everyone applying!
I read on UVA transfer blog that mid term grades help make or break a decision to accept. Do they? Supposed to send by earlier April. Also–anyone know if getting just a college prof rec is ok. For transfer app, not giving a rec from HS is okay, just a college rec?
I mean the admissions committee has access to application from HS already, with those recommendations in there from before. right? Will they look at those from applications from before.
hey @zct0018, I think you have a fantastic chance. Are you applying as a third year? If so, are you looking at Batten or Mcintire?
@Jouuuu Yes I am. I just applied for arts and sciences, but looking back I wish I would of done more research on Batten. Wbu?
