Still no checkmark for me on SIS, hopefully results come out on May, not getting in wont kill me but the anxiousness will haha
@uctransfer2016 where did you see the average transfer GPA?
@indigoiguana thanks! I have a 3.48 and the LaVolpe technique gave me an acceptance letter so I’m feeling optimistic.
@uctransfer2016 I don’t have a check on my application yet either
I cannot wait until Friday…
@Sam998 No problem, happy to help. I think you’ve got a good shot!
My SAT scores and High school GPA are not that great, do you think this will be a make it or break it situation for my application?
Hey guys!
Im joining the conversation kinda late but I just found out about this website. I wish everyone good luck! 5 more days!!
I got wait listed at W&M (Shocked) but UVA was my 1st choice anyways so fingers crossed!
@DannyCareyisGod Same exact situation! I understand that they have a totally different application process, and it’s not just about one aspect of ones application. I just figured with a 3.88 gpa and over 44 transferable credits that I be good to go! But it’s okay staying positive for this weekend!!!
You had a 3.88 gpa and were still wait listed at W&M?
@zct0018 I was a community college student at TNCC, volunteered at W&W for nearly 3 years, and had a 3.5GPA. I was almost 100% positive I was going to get in. I was pretty shocked yesterday to say the least. Oh well UVA here we come!
@APUVA2077 Are you transferring in as a third year? If you are, I doubt your HS GPA and SAT will break you. However, I think they put more weight on that for rising second year students.
@indigoiguana I am technically transferring as a third year. (Two years already done at a CC) However, I applied for the nursing program. The nursing program is three years long, so I will be bumped back to a second year. My application is definitely competitive, but the only thing freaking me out is the SAT scores and my high school GPA.
STATS:
High School:
~2.5 GPA.
College: (Hopeful Nursing Student)
- 3.85 GPA
- 100+ Volunteer hours with a Doctor who graduated from UVA
- 3 recommendation letters (Current Boss, Teacher, and the Doctor that I shadowed with (UVA alum).
- 50 solid transferable credits. (+12 in the spring)
- CPR Certified and took additional health care related classes. (Nutrition, developmental psych, Chemistry)
The nursing program only allows about 10-13 external transfers into their program.
@APUVA2077 That’s a very, very selective program, but I think you seem competitive for it.
@APUVA2077 @DannyCareyisGod As of right now I have 44 transferable credits with a 3.88 GPA. I also have a political internship and current campaign job right now. To be honest what I think hurt me was my high school GPA of about 2.6. But more importantly I recently took the SAT for the first time in my life and scored a horrible 1350. I’m 21 so I’ve been out of high school for almost 4 years and I did not study for the SAT as I was busy with other stuff. They might have seen the GPA and the SAT score not matching up and raising a red flag, even know I don’t believe a SAT 4 years removed out of high school should determine a candidates readiness to succeed at any university. I also know that W&M transfer process is way different than UVA. As it was mentioned before GAA for W&M is 3.6 and UVA is 3.4. Based on my research and the numbers of transfer applicants its apparent to me that you can be accepted by one school and rejected by another. I feel good about our chances this weekend! UVA is my first choice so my fingers will be crossed!!! We got this!!!
@indigoiguana I know! UVA is definitely my first choice school, but I have to keep reminding myself how hard it is to get into the nursing program. I have been accepted into all of the other schools I have applied to, but UVA is my #1.
I hope we all get in. It is so beautiful there…
@DannyCareyisGod Thomas Nelson is very close to me! I’m at Tidewater Community College In Virginia Beach! We have been doing a lot of door knocking for the campaign I work on, close to that area of late!
@zct0018 When my sister applied to UVA, she had a 3.8 and was accepted with no problems. The counselor she spoke to basically said she was guaranteed to get in with a 3.8. Her high school grades and SAT scores were not up to par either. (She also transferred from a CC after two years)
