Applying to CAS as potential second year, worth sending in the Mid-Year Report?
I’m applying under SEAS as well, but I’m curious to why it’s more competitive compared to CAS. Maybe it depends on major, but for kids who transferred to UVA for a CS major, there were more SEAS admits than CAS ones as CS is in both schools. Also on UVA’s website, they even say that CS is limited in numbers at CAS.
It’s the engineering school… Of course SEAS > CAS in terms of competitiveness
Not for CS though. It’s more difficult in CAS since it’s limited. A reason typically is that CAS gen eds and courses are typically BS compared to an engineering pre reqs. For engineering we have to take Calc I-III, Physics I and II, Chem, and many other math courses while with CAS you take world religion, a ton of foreign language, arts, humanities, etc. Much more difficult courses in SEAS, hence why people typically apply to CAS cuz it’s easier.
Wow I actually didn’t know CS is competitive for CAS. My point though is that it’s intuitive and common sense for SEAS to be more competitive than CAS with the exception of a few majors.
I got a 4.0 my first semester at college. However, I have a 3.4 mid grade report. Should I even send the mid grade report in?
Definitely don’t! That may kill your chances.

I will try to bring my grades up again and then send in a report the first week of April.
Anyone else find it a little awkward to ask profs to sign your midterm report or is it just me? It’s like “here, sign this paper to help me leave your school”

I don’t think you have to feel awkward. You’re not the first to do so and maybe your professor did the same thing when they were young.
Not really into basketball and March Madness for that matter, but I never noticed that UVA is ranked number 1. Seems like they are good in basketball. It has nothing to do with admissions, but maybe if they make it further in the competition, the admission’s process will be more optimistic lol.

Well maybe I spoke to soon lol. UVA just lost to the lowest seed. Hopefully they still optimistic about our applications somehow.

@ChrisKayz I’ll probably see after the decisions. UVA apparently gives it’s decisions in the last week of April so there is still some time until the decisions are there.
